I have a few questions about headlamps...

I have a 97 DSDP, and since I bought it, one of the headlamps has consistently fogged up on the inside.

Originally, I removed the bulb and let it dry out, but it would fog up over time.
With rain, it gets quite wet inside.

Has anyone had this problem? Solved it?

Also, the headlamps are marked "FORD" all over -- anyone know how to find the
ford part number the cross reference to? I was thinking I might just replace
it and be done with it. The headlamp on the other side has always been fine.

And, while I'm asking, one of the driving/fog lights has burned out. Has anyone
replaced or upgraded one of these?

Thanks a lot!

I had a 1998 Newmar Mountainaire that did the same thing. I am getting old, but if my memory is intact (questionable), I removed the housing and drilled a small hole in the bottom and that solved the problem. I do not know if it was the hole itself or the hole allowed air coming in from the bulb socket to provide cross ventilation to prevent the fogging.

Yes, Been there, done that.
1-Go to cold climate. 2- remove headlight assembly and place near warm furnace / wood stove for approximately three months to dry. 3- Reseal entire assembly with high quality silicone sealant. 4- Reinstall and enjoy.

Okay you can skip the cold climate but I think you get the point. I'm going on two years now and assembly is still 100% dry.

I also had a headlight replaced under warranty due to the clear coat peeling off. I actually got the headlight shipped to me by the dealer. I installed it myself (that's another story). I looked up the part number on the box... not the Ford number by the after market or OEM number... TYC-xxxx.yyyy.zzz. I found out that the headlights were from a 92-02 Mercury Marquis and the taillights were from a 97 Ford Ranger. The bottom line is Newmar wanted $90 for the headlight and after market was $45.

This all documented on my Free Web Site.

I'm going to try and take it apart, see where it leaks and see how to seal it.

If that doesn't work, hopefully I can find a part number on it and order another.

Thanks so much.
