Heat Pump Issue

Zone 1 heat pump groans for about 45 seconds, then shuts off. The fan does not come on. I switched the thermostat to "fan only" and still no fan. I haven't tried it on A/C mode. I have looked at some troubleshooting information, but to no avail.
Any ideas?

Sounds like you might have a bad start capacitor. It should be located under the cover on top of the AC/heat pump unit. Another possibility is the fan motor might be bad. You can check that by turning off the breaker to the fan, then removing the shroud and trying to turn the fan by hand. If it doesn't turn freely, the bearings are probably shot, and will reauire replacing the fan motor.
