Heated Tile Floors-Myth vs Reality
Looking at this option on a Dutch Star or MADP. A dealer with current stock indicated they are not ordering this option because of floor issues that develop with this option.
Can anyone verify this as a problem or have personal experience.
Thanks,
Sal

Hi Sal
We've had the electric heated floors in both of our last Newmars' with absolutely no problems. They're a great option!!

We have an '08 King Aire with the heated floors. No floor issues at all. We've had a couple tiles replaced, which has to be done very carefully to not damage the wires, but Newmar's factory service team handled it just fine. I've had one thermostat (of three) crap out in the 6+ years, but it was an easy replacement.
It's a must have for us.

I am sure there are people that have had issues but i dont think its very common. I have had 2 coaches with it and i can tell you the electric is superior to hot water heated floors. One thing for sure is they are sure nice to have and we have not had any issues

I had it in my 06 Intrigue and never had a problem with it. It's warm on the feet for those cold mornings and it kept my coach warm without running the AquaHot. It was one of my "must haves" when we went shopping for a new coach.

There are a million and one problems listed on this web site, I don't believe I've read about a floor issue caused by having it heated.
I've read where people have had a section of floor heat not turn on.
I've read about pinched water lines on those with liquid floor heat.
I've even read about someone being concerned that electric floor might cause cancer.
BUT, I have yet to read about a flooring problem caused by floor heat.

Don't believe anything you hear & only 50% of what you read in RVing & you'll be a lot more content & wiser!
I have heated floors in my 2014 Newmar MADP & we love it & have had no issues at all. The reason the dealer blew it off was because he didn't have any models in stock with this option & they want to sell you one from their stock. Typically a dealer will not order this very expensive option (~$9,000) because he's trying to hold down the MSRP for competitive reasons. Typically this is an option you'll only find on owner ordered coaches or top end models.
From our experience it is well worth the cost & there are no issues, only more $$$$- order it!

The heated floor problem is a myth. We ordered it for our 2014 MADP [Delivered February 2014] and it has been a blessing to us when we are in cold weather. We have not had any problems with it. Hope this comment helps whoever wants to order this feature.

Has anyone tried installing electric floor heat when recarpeting/retileing their motorhome?
