Heating during boondocking no gen
I’m at a CG with nothing but water (not needed) and they have quiet hours at 10. At Jetty Park in Cape Canaveral (scrubbed launch today).
What’s the suggested setup to have heat on battery? I’m thinking heat element to AC 1 and diesel burner on and only enable furnace in the bedroom (zone 2).
Any suggestions on how to do this?
It’s not that cold and I could probably do without it but I’m curious. It’s odd that when the furnace kicks on the gen goes under load so I’m not sure what the draw is of a furnace. I have 8 house batteries.

Neal,
I have never been in your situation, but I would be surprised if the Oasis AC elements are powered by the inverter as they pull around 12 amps when turned on. I would suggest you turn the AC elements off and turn on the burner instead. The Oasis will fire up and the 12 VDC blowers will provide your heat.

Okay. I wasn’t sure if AC 1 was required for furnace.
By the way it’s so windy here I doubt anyone would hear the gen but I’ll sleep better without it.

When boondocking I just put the diesel burner on, can't run electric elements on inverter. Hope that helps

No need to use the AC I/II at all. Only works with 110 power. So with shore power you can run I/II with no burner or with the burner. No shore power it is Burner only.

First off, I'm glad Neil asked that question because I would have gotten around to it later in the spring I'm sure.
Just a follow up though Gary, if on shore power at CG and you are on I/II setting, can you just leave it there and switch the diesel burner on? Or do you have to turn AC I/II off and then switch diesel burner on? This would be a situation where the outside temps in the morning are maybe 30 degrees, both heat zones going, and we are taking showers and doing a load of clothes.

Yes, you can leave both the electrical elements turned on and this will probably enough to keep you warm, if not just turn on the burner too and you will be toasty warm with all three working. If I am hooked to shore power, I keep the electrical elements on constantly.

When we have 50 amp service we keep both AC I/II on all the time and turn burner on when it gets very cold and when we are going to take showers. Hope that helps

Joe you can leave the burner turned on. It will only fire up when the Oasis, while running with AC I/II sees that the AC elements aren't keeping the water/fluid warm enough and will kick on until the Oasis gets back up until target temperature.
