Heating Pad Question

I have a 2014 Dutch star with the heating pad for the holding tanks. when should this be used and does it work for both the grey and black water tanks?

Use it when temperatures will be below 32 degrees for several hours. I do not know if all of your tanks will have the pad or not, contact your dealer or the manufacturer and they should be able to tell you. It will also depend on how much volume you have in your tanks. If you are over half full it will take a long time for the cold to affect that amount of liquid. Keeping your fresh water tanks near full is also a good idea. Finally if you can skirt around your trailer and prevent the wind from blowing under it you will have a much warmer home.

Whether you have heat pads or not your furnace is the main heater for basement tank areas on a Newmar, the heat pads in my view are just a assurance to keep them heated.
Remember your plumbing is run through the floor area up into cabinets to faucets the heat pads do not help your plumbing pipes.
I have never had heat pads and have camped in pretty cold weather the furnace did it all.

jimfryar ... I also got the heating pads option when we ordered our coach but usually forget to turn them on as the oasis unit keeps all the bays pretty warm down there.

We always use the furnace and fireplace for our heating and not the heat pumps as they are just so noisy. Just a personal preference.
