Just wondering if anyone on here has the wiring diagram or pics if possible of how their heating pads switch is wired? My original switch went bad internally, so I purchased a replacement with same amp rating. The switch is slitely diferent, being that I couldnt find the exact one like original. The new switch is a more modern single switch with light built in instead of seperate from toggle. My problem is that when I hooked back up now my breaker keeps tripping, any words of wisdom welcome.

Jimmy

Hello, I am faced with a similar repair ; pending;and would like any feedback;fixes;as part way through the winter in the south the indicator started glowing and the pads had to be shut down at the circuit breaker to stop the draw. Any info is very much appreciated. Thanks.

I have been looking for your years coach models and heat pad option which may have been the Winter Option Package for those years.
There is all kinds of tech information in the Com.Net link in Quick Tips but have not found any info on your problems.
My surgestion is call Newmar Repair Center and see if they will send you some wiring diagrams for your heat pads.
A call or e-mail on their Contact line should get you some help tell them "007" sent you.

How many wires on the switch? I would think the switch would work a relay and not power the pads if you get a wiring diagram I would like to know how it is wired I also have pads on my Canyon Star

Rodney, the Newmar switch; a Leviton 5226-W; neonpilot a/c combination switch. Has 4 wires attached. + power, and - neg return on one side, load +, and -return, on the other. Load is switched, and the pilot light is illuminated on the return. Switch load rating is 20 amp as is the breaker.
No relay that I can find, and I don't have a load rating on the pads. The switch appears to be tolerant of crossed wiring as mine was reversed on the power side with the only issue a slight glow, of the bulb.

This PDF shows wiring of switch. The wiring from pads grounds would be common and black leads from pad would be on switched side of switch.
Led would operate as power flows though switch to pads leads, to the green ground lead, plus or minus should not enter into it its 110V's.

Rodney, Newmar may have changed everything in relation to the pads since my coach was built 99, do you have a dedicated circuit in the 110 panel breakers, marked Pads, or any indication on the 12 volt fuse panel that there is a battery powered pad in use.
A 12 volt switched 110 circuit is possible with a relay, but a little impractical.
Is the switch, factory marked pads ? Or were you told that's what it was for ?
Doesn't seem right, that an item that is a major draw on the electrical circuits, could be on; left on; without an indicator ! Can you find, access the pad connectors and check for voltage ?

Rodney, a question is your switch labled" Tank Heat Pads " or just "Tank Heat" ? A Tank Heat switch would just be a remote switch for a furnace duct booster fan that only runs when the furnace is going and blows hot air into the tank compartment. My Tank Heat switch is on my water hook up panel, and so only accessable by going into the water compartment. Just a thought, let us know how your making out.
