Heavy damage from hail in Colorado Springs

Finishing up our 10 week 8K mile summer trip with our 18 London Aire and our 4 month old 18 Durango. Yesterday afternoon at KOA, with a couple other Newmar owners, we had a hail storm that did a lot of damage to both our tow car and LA. Here are some photos of the Durango which got the worst of the damage. Have many dents on cabinet doors and radiator grill. The roof had numerous items broken up from the golf ball size hail. That's one way to break in our new coach and tow.

Got caught up in the one middle of June. Bottom line, 21K for roof damage. See Ray at Transwest in Fountain and he will get your plastic fixed quickly. Replaced sky light, AC covers and roof vents in less than 4 hours. They will be replacing roof when we get back in October. Skip

Wow Tom, that looks bad. Sorry to see this happen to your new rig. I am from SoCal too. The land of NO weather. I have no idea if our insurance even covers hail damage. Gotta check that out.

It is likely the same storm that killed a few animals and hurt some spectators at the zoo there yesterday. Quite the storm.

Very story to hear about this. I had the same experience many many years ago with my first brand new car. A Corvette parked next to me was undamaged—fiberglass body didn’t dent.

I wish you well with repairs.

So sorry this happened to you.

It is good to have lots of pictures of the damage. Keep after your insurance co. until you get enough $ to get your repairs done. Some years ago our truck was just a few months old and we had a hail storm with hail the size of tennis balls. Our house got 21thousand dollars worth of damage. I negotiated until they put on all new siding and did great design work in the front peak. Our truck had to be repaired. Turned out to be the best ten minutes of my life. We esentialy got back everything we had ever paid out in home owners ins. Our deductible was only $200.00. What a bargain. We never had a storm like that. Insurance adjusters and contractors came up North to train roofers ect. how to recognize hail damage..roofs ect.

Ouch! Sorry to hear about your misfortune. It sounds like the silver lining was that no one was injured. Things can be fixed, people sometimes can't. Hang in there!

While I live in California now, but I spent most of my working career in the Denver metro area for 30 years. In that time I had a completely destroyed roof, badly damaged airplane and severely damaged cars because of the typical hail storms moving off the front range in the summer.

The insurance companies know the game and in my experience were very easy to deal with settling claims. Document everything and you should see checks very soon to cover the damage.

Hope it goes well for you.

So sorry to hear about this Tom.
I live in California but have Family in Colorado Springs. Don't think it was much more than a year ago that they had similar hail storm damage.
