I just flushed out the brake system again a week ago, same way as before, same dot3/4 fluid, it was dirty and needed to be changed. Today
we went and filled up with gas for the start of a two week vacation and I can not get the stupid brake light to go off.

I popped the e brake several times, even got under the rig while the dw stepped on the e brake and then released, worked fine. Then looked at all the brake lines and fittings, no leaks. Then went and bought more brake fluid and again added more, the problem is the manual tells you to fill to
the line, but there is no line on the tank.......the level is about 1/4 of an
inch below the bottom of the cap tube.....

Any thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

ps, I looked at all the old forums, no help here

Don't know, but I have the same problem (2000 E350). The book says brake fluid low, but like yours the reservoir is full to the line (about 1/4 inch from the top)
To add to that the ABS light is on also and all that happened while I was driving many miles from home.
I'll be following this thread with interest.

Cheers
Willey

I just had a thought, there are two caps on the brake reservoir. I'm wondering if that could be a problem since I only filled the front one..

I'd fill both to the top of caps also you could have a wear problem with brake switch plastic pin to switch on top of brake pedal bar. If like Workhorse remove wiring plug and turn plastic plunger so switch works. Same switch on WH operates CC & STEPS plus boost pump for brake system.

checked the rear reservior today, it was almost full, filled a little more and started it up, same light, shook all the wiring and finally took it to the local Ford
dealer, mech found the tank switch was bad, will pick it up friday and hope and pray all is well.

I had the same-similar problem with my ford gasser. It wasn't the brake fluid that was causing it. The emergency brake release switch came loose and I couldn't figure out where to reinstall it. Even when I released the brake it would light up and ring a warning bell. That also messes with the levelers because you cna't level it without the brake on. Took it back to ford and they fixed it for free.
