I am trying to figurre out how they have installed the covered area over driver side window and passenger side window /door that has the map lights on them. My windshield traverse rod is screwed to the bottom, but taking this down does not have anything to do with how the upholstery part is held up...I want to re-do fabric and cannot figure this one out! Anyone have an answer? I may have to find the ax!!
thanks, Jojo

Most of the window valences are held up by L shaped clips. You just have to remove one screw and it will drop off wall. The fabric is stapled to the wood valence should pose no problem to redo you maybe able to use the old fabric as a patten.
I will check mine to see if there may be another problem.

No L clips on these the valance is in pretty solid. Thought the screws for curtain track maybe long into wood framing but thats not the case removed them and mounting for map light also.
To tear this out can cause damage to ceiling and cabinets.
You can try and pry strips stapled on valance may have screws in back.
I would call Newmar with your coach number and ask how these two units are mounted and what are holding them up.
Have you tried cleaning the fabric or are you just looking for a change.

I just looked at mine and it is the same as 007 posted. The fabric is almost always stapled into the wood. However, how these valances are fastened to the wall is a mystery.

Okay, I finally figured them out! I removed them and just finished covering them in my new fabric! It was a job, but well worth it. Hubby put them back up so that they will now screw off instead of all the brads and staples I had to pry, plead, and pull! This job is for someone who has knowledge of upholstey work and sewing skills, not for the faint of heart! I am so thankful my Mother taught me to sew and upholster!

Bones they sure can use them staples, some of them long, easy to hide in fabric. The other valences should be alot easier to recover.
If you ever have pictures would like to see them when your done with project.
