Help needed with genny starting on 30 amp service
Hello Fellow Newmarians!
We had to switch to a 30 amp site today. After we moved I plugged in and 30 amp service showed on the panel. Started the AC in front up and a couple of minutes later the generator came on. We were drawing 15 Amps and are in float charge. Any ideas why the genny started? Normal or an issue

Obviously, you've got an Energy Management System. I'd look up the manual for that EMS and read about its functions and settings.

What is the voltage from the 30A AC Power Source when running A/C Unit (and the other 120V AC stuff that was ON at the time gen started)?

If you have the ME-RC50 Remote...there are two things that will trigger an Automatic Generator Start (AGS).
1) Battery Voltage blow the target setting in the AGS setting menu.
2) Dometic Air Conditioner/Heat Pump thermostat run commanded with AGS set to Temp. Ext. Input, and monitored shore power not available.
(Note...a Progressive Industries EMS, if installed, can momentarily interrupt power if the shore power falls outside of monitoring limits...this will appear as a momentary shore power loss)
If the park had a momentary power outage...you would probably not have noticed. Your interior lights, microwave, entertainment system...all run off the Inverter which will hide the fact you had a shore power outage. If it happened while the thermostat was trying to run the air conditioner/Heat Pump...and your AGS System is armed...the AGS will start the generator. I’m sure hat you have a more recent software revision,,,so the Generator will start, the Load Mgmt. panel will shed loads...the genset will warmup. Then the loads will be reinstated.including the air conditioner/Heat Pump. The Generator will continue to run until the thermostat setpoint is reached...the air conditioner/Heat Pump will turn off...the loads again shed and the Generator will cooldown...then shut off. This will be the first chance the transfer switch has to allow shore power to repower the coach. With the generator running,,,the charger will operate...
The other setting...Voltage...if set too high will trigger nuisance AGS startups whenever there is a high inductive Inverter load introduced which can cause a drop in battery voltage...the Precision Circuits System also uses battery power to boost available AC power to the main bus thru the Inverter when surges are detected. So, even what you would consider a non-Inverter Load...can momentarily draw from the battery, and cause the low voltage trigger on the AGS.
If you set your trigger voltage to a reasonable voltage, and continue to have problems...you may need to load test the batteries...and also check for fouled or loose terminals at the battery lugs, and fuse terminals. A weak connection can cause excessive resistance, and result in the Inverter detecting a droop in voltage when under load.
Hope this makes sense.

Thanks CM. Makes more sense now. I’m thinking we momentarily had a heavier current draw. We had moved sites and I ran the DS slides out before I plugged in. After we got a little more charge it was all fine until the Microwave was turned on while making dinner. It was over 90 in TX today.
