Hershey Show Observation

After spending two days walking the Hershey show I am disappointed that Newmar is not providing a camera display size that is competitive with other manufacturers. The Dutch Star and Ventana displays are much smaller than most other DP's that I looked at. I love the quality that I saw in the Newmars, but it is time to upgrade the electronics!

Sadly Newmar seems to be on a quest to build motorhomes for as low a cost as possible. I wish they built the quality, technology, and reliability they wanted in a troublefree motorhome they would buy for themselves and keep it for a long time.

That is what I would do if I could build one for myself. Short of that, spec the qualities you wanted in the chassis, and the motorhome's build and appliances, and workmanship and charge a fair price. For example, put a VTDP 3407 or 3717 (with 12.5K generator) on a Cascadia 113 with a DD13 engine 17K ZF IFS air suspension front axle with the 360x80 22.5 tires on front axle and 24K air ride rear axle 295x80 22.5 tires, with all of Freightliner's safety and comfort options included. That would make a less than 40' mountain climbing rig with a near 10K lbs cargo capability for boondocking in the Rockies.

newmar has always been behind in the electronics department.....this is nothing new....it has always been a weak point.....

I was impressed that they are waiting for bugs to get fixed before they rolled out a new line of electronics. When i talked to the rep, he had the same reply....newmar is behind the others in implementing bigger and better electronics until the rest of the industry figures out what goes wrong and gets the setup right....he said it saves them money on r&d.

I dont know how much truth there is in that, but it makes sense......

I suspect they lag the industry as they’re convinced most old people (their prime customer base) can’t deal with new technology. :-)

I suspect a lot of the "new" technology was engineered, designed and built by a lot of those "old people". You have to be careful when you paint with a wide brush.

I am now one of those old people. I have never used all the electronics on any coach I have owned over the 25 years I have been RVing. Most of it is a pain in the butt- lols! Never figured out to use the radios alone!

I'm just thrilled to have comfort drive- wouldn't trade that for every technology out there combined. My cell phone has enough tech in it for me - and works easier and better - lols!

Title of this thread is about the Hershey RV show. So where are the posts about the show?

Newmar Family has been negotiating a sale for some time.

So why bother.

well, i think the OP was mostly talking about the AV/electronics in the coaches....that they SAW at the hershey show....

so titles can be misleading....

and i can stand to be corrected....if my interpretation of the OP's original post is incorrect...

just my 2 cents
