Anybody having trouble with glare or co-pilot visor in the high mouted mirrors this is what I'm doing to help the problem, my mirrors will be the same as the 2008/09 DSDP except my arms will be on the top of the mirror instead of the bottom. When testing at Camp Newmar the service held the mirror at the height that they were going to mount it and the glare that was on the mirror was 90% improved. I'm going to try and post what this will look like after done not sure my photos link will work or not

For those that are not familiar with the issues of the inverted mirrors, the following link describes some of the problems. LINK

For my money, the drivers mirror should be lower even then the second pic. If I the mirror in that position when I drive a Motorcoach in NY city, I would probably run over someone in the cross walk on every left turn. I've driven both types of mirrors in NYC and like where Prevost puts the left one. I would want it below the line of sight for a safe left turn. I understand why Newmar and others put the arm where they do, I believe it's because of the full front slide. I wish I could get a curved arm for my DSDP to put the mirror positioned for viewing out the side window. Maybe someday.

I have a 2006 DSDP with the high mounted mirrors. The reflections were so bad that the mirror was almost unusable in the day and totally useless at night. Newmar, at the factory, replaced the short arm on the drivers side with a long arm, same as curbside, and that resolved the problem. The downside was that the mirror has only about 65 to 70 percent of the glass usable due to the corner structure. The mirror is way out front so the chance of loosing it to a side wwipe is the same as the curbside. I can live with the improvement. I know they did this fix on 2 other 2006 DSDP's

For What It's Worth...my 2cents!!: Have had our Essex now for 10 months. Driven from Tucson, to Dakotas, to Minn., to Nappanee. Coach had the new high mounted, inverted mirrors when we took delivery and I thought...well o.k. will give em a chance. Gotta tell ya though, at this point I'd rather NOT have em. They're tough to adjust due to high placement. The passenger AND driver inside sunvisors can block or very much reduce the driver's vision of the mirrors, AND..finally, that GLARE problem is horrible!! Depending on the light conditions, the angle of the sun, etc., there are frequently times when the driver simply cannot make out rear reflections in those mirrors. I, for one, would sure like to see the Newmar engineers come with a "fix". Someone mentioned that the newer pushed out front end of the rigs prevents or eliminates a mounting of the mirrors in the traditional position. What about along the lateral (side) surface of the side posts?? Seems to me there's space there for mount. At any rate, IMHO (in my humble opinion) Newmar engineers NEED to come up with a replacement mount package for us to avail ourselves of. Eh? (but, what do I know?) Steve

Steve, You missed one, high winds and speed will blow the mirrors out no matter how tight they are torqued. ie: 35 MPH headwinds at 70+ MPH coach speed. That receipe will require re-torquing every 2 hours or so.

I state again IMHO, the folks at Newmar need only go drive a Prevost H345. Then they will know where they should be. I have ones that are low but are out front. The wiper does not even clean the window for proper vision. I get by with this situation by using RainX. I wonder if the folks that put the mirrors where they do, ever drive one in the rain.

Hi all they finished my 07 DSDP today the mirrors have been lowered 15" from the original top of the window position and are about the same height as the 08/09 Dutch Star and much improved and worth the money spent $600 to have it done. I really hated the high mount which sometimes was useless and a safety hazzard. Newmar also replaced carpets at N/C in the bedroom, livingroom and the slideout. This wasn't their fault but a poor dealers PDI and the use of sticky floor covering that ruined the carpet.

The pictures tell the story. After you get a few K miles on the new setup, post how everything is working out for you.

We had the opportunity to see Waterboy's new mirrors yesterday and he gave us the opportunity to sit in the driver's seat for a preview of how they look. From the outside they look better than the picture indicates. Looks like they were original.
We are so impressed that we are having our mirrors "done" too. However, Newmar is booked solid until end of Nov. We have gone to Precision Paint in Bremen for some repair (TOO close encounter with a landscape rock) and they agreed to do this mirror chanage along with the rest. Their quote is about $650 for just the mirrors.

Donna, oh Donna, That sounds great. If anybody needs this done it has to be me. I've been somewhat vocal about this issue when, and even before I got my coach. At that kind of bucks, it's a done deal.
Peter, reflecting on the idea!

I have posted a link to the photos of the lowered mirrors on my 2007 DSDP. I'm really glad that I had the mirrors moved after driving from Michigan to Florida daylight and dark the mirrors worked flawless and I had no glare at all day or night
