Horrible Nightmare Luxury Option!

Well it took me just a week or so to remove and solve my problems with Newmar’s "Goofy" designed computer table.

Of all the furnishing in the New Aire, they dropped the ball adding this nightmare option that is both useless and dangerous to the owner and furnishing. This table is constructed in an unsafe manner with “Sharp Metal Edges” that protrude everywhere, its an accident waiting too happen to either the operator or your furnishing. This bulky construction is something you might expect on a grass catcher on a lawn mower!

When the table is retracted, it ruins the looks of a luxury coach seat and blocks the passengers console and use of the switches. It’s also located perfectly wrong to obstruct your elbow room.

When you make the fatal decision to actually deploy the table, it takes a degree in mechanical engineering. Once its out, everything is wrong with regard to position and angle. If you really want a good laugh, try putting a drink in the holder!

Adding to its horrors, when you rotate the seat towards the living area, this horrible thing is now partially hanging off the side of your once beautiful seat, helping to further block the already too narrow entrance with its “Un-Sightly & Dangerous” metal obstructions.

Before anyone hammers me, do yourself a favor and just un-hook it for one trip - you’ll be thanking me for the suggestion. You’ll love the look and space of your new seat!

Mike

Sheer beauty of an attractive seat un-cluttered and free of steel bracing with additional room to enter.

After 6 months on our 18 LA haven't used it yet. Going to wait a couple months before we remove it.

Perhaps we would have a clue what you are talking about if you showed it deployed.

Is it easily removed or do I need to hire a demolition crew?

Thanks for the reply's guys - I would be embarrassed to show the miserable thing, as I mentioned, when deployed its horrible, positioned wrong, not level and it traps the rider in the seat. Your lap is 1000% better.

Let's get real here, who in their right mind is going to punish themselves pulling that mess out, and maybe losing a finger or even better attempt to use that shaky platform as a work-station when your driving, it would be easier to get up on the roof and type.

The real problem is its absolute terrible design and trying to deploy it combined with the potential danger to the coach and user with raw sharp metal protruding from this thing.

I thing that idea of a table for the passenger seat is a good idea. However it must be functional and have a nice appearance. Apparently the Newmar table looks more like an after thought.

Absolutely agree. Removed mine as soon as I got the coach home. Have never missed it or it’s ungainliness.

I had to chuckle when I read this thread. In our 2014 Ventana LE, the "computer table" lasted about two hours. That's how long it took us to get to the first rest stop! The wrenches came out and into the baggage bay it went.

Just yesterday, in preparation for the trip to pick up our new coach in a couple of weeks, I put the computer table back into the baggage bay in case the new owner might want it. I can't imagine that they would, but it is their choice.

Guess what the first order of business will be after picking up our new coach. Yep...the wrenches will come out again and the stupid thing will be in the baggage compartment before we head home.

The table in my DSDP lasted from Dallas to Houston. Wife cracked her elbow on it while reaching for something that fell on the floor.

Given the apparent universal disdain for this "feature", I'm amazed that somebody at Newmar hasn't already heard about it from customers and removed it from their coaches.
