Hot water temp adjustment Bay Star
We are out on our 1st fishing trip and are hooked up to shore power in a power only camp site. I have the hot water tank on electric, but it is way to hot. I was reading the tank documentation and it mentions an adjustment, but then the wiring diagram indicates a fixed temp setting, so now I am not sure there is anything adjustable.
I looked all around the tank inside and out, but there was nothing obvious. Anyone have any insight on this?

Hi sedaliaterry,
There is no adjustment. The temp is fixed at about 140 degrees. This is done so one uses less hot water. Therefore, the hot water lasts longer.

Thanks Gary appreciate the helpful confirmation. Sure feels almost scalding to us. May be an issue on our unit then.

My waterheater was the same way,(too hot) like you say almost scalding, did a little research and found a kit to change the little temperature limit switch to one that was adjustable, was easy to change and worked great. Check with mister Google, I bet you can do the same.

I too thought the water temp was hotter than it should be. I took a meat thermometer and tested the water out of the kitchen sink which is directly over the wh. Right on 135. Might want to check yours.
Read a post on here or another forum where a guy wants his wh set at 170.

Thanks guys when I get home I will check the temp to see for sure, and check on the adjustable mod. Wanted to see if there was anything I could do while afield, but you folks confirmed it is not possible (regardless of the manual).

If u have an Atwood WH, there is an temp adjustment kit with a dial that is available on the Atwood website and Amazon or some rv parts sites. We had a Surburban WH in our previous mh and changed out our disc type temp sensors on the side of the wh to ones that were in the 115-120 range I believe. The oem ones, as u have found out, are way to hot.

Just to follow-up, I tested water temp and it was right at 140 like GaryKD and wildtoad indicated. Ordered suggested Attwood adjustable thermostat. Goes in real easy (YouTube videos showing how). Initial setting (C) is about 135. Bumped it down 1, and wife is happy (all that matters)...
Thanks for all the help.
Terry
