Guys, really, thanks. You have been so helpful and kind. I truly appreciate the help. The blown fuses (2 - 30a) were on the converter. Replaced them (again) and changed the end of the extension cord (seemed like it was fussy when I plugged it in last night) and bought a receptical tester (to make sure the polarity was correct in my niece's house) and viola! I have a working converter, charged batteries, and a very, very happy wife - to whom I replied, "could not have done it without the irv2 forum~!

Thanks again for the help and quick replies! Oh, and i'm getting a surge protector. WHich one do you recommend?

Thank you all for helping me out today. It was a bad end on the extension cord. Full power, charged batteries and a happy wife. Thanks again.

Which surge protector do you guys recommend?

Hi Gatesway,
I have used the Surge Guard products since 2005. They work as advertised. The two products are:

Voltage Regulator Surge Guard RV Voltage Regulators - Product - Camping World

Surge Guard Protector
Portable Surge Guard - Product - Camping World
They have both the permenant and portable units. I have room for the portable unit inside my electrical bay.

This link in post #11 has pictures of different installations that will cover all types.
They are all good and do the job for you.
