House Batteries Water Level

You know what they say when you assume, but I assume water level just above the metal plates is full? I don't want to overfill and spill all over my stamped concrete drive.

There is usually one or two marks that lets you know. If there are no marks then make sure the plates are submerged.

There is a c on either side of the cell at the top and you fill to the level of the c on both sides. Make sure to use distilled water.

Above the plates (D) but below the fill rings (B) seems to work best.

I've experienced more acid "spitting" if I try to keep the level touching the fill rings.

The proper fill level per the "Book":

If you remove the cap and shine a flashlight there is a short tube that ends in a "Split Ring" (it has two or more slots in the last quarter to half inch) the book says fill to the bottom of this ring when fully charged with DISTILLED water.

My recommendation: About 1/4 inch (1/8 to 1/2) below this ring. If you over fill it tends to "Spit" acid solution out the vents,, That extra quarter inch greatly reduces this tendency.

MINIMUM is 'Just above the plates'. If the plates are not covered the battery suffers big time.
