Question House battery HELP.....

Hello fellow Newmar owners...I was hoping if there is anyone on here who owns a 2002 Dutchstar that could send me a picture of their house batteries?? I made a grave mistake in not labeling my cables and now after Ive redone my tray and relplaced my batteries, I can't seem to figure out where one of the cables go. It's a three cable bundle, small gauge wires with single connecter. It has no red or black colors to it. If anyone knows what they are or has a picture, please shoot me a line. Thanks.

Jimmy

Here is a LINK to get started depending if your using 12v or 6v batteries.
Here is a thread of some battery connections but not for your coach.
A positive battery post may have three heavy wires, GEN, multi to other battery and one feeding a battery buss on same lug.
Smaller gage wires if you pull back the black covering may have print on jacket of wire indicating where it may go.
If you have a bunch of white wires would be to ground of a battery.

Question

Thanks 007, but that didn't help. Electrical systems in general are no problem for me, and there lies the problem...I was to confendent in my knowledge, had a buddy disconnect for me, now after two weeks I have an issue. My batteries are 6 volt(x4) factory setup. The white wires have no markings and I can't seem to find where they originate from. That's why I was hoping someone on here would have same year as mine. Hopefully someone would be gracious enough to send pics or info. 18 yrs as a Flight Engineer in the Air Force, you'd think I wouldn't do a rookie mistake like this!!

It sounds like somebody didn't have the correct size wire for the application and decided to parallel some wires under the same connection. Could it be from your solar controller or solar prep??

Hi Livtwofly,
At the NKK rally I am at, there is an 02 DSDP. There are no small gage wires coming off the house batteries. There is a small gage wire coming off the rear battery negative post of the chassis battery. There is also a bunch of small gage wires (5 in all to one terminal) coming off the negative terminal of the front chassis battery. All the wires are factory original. The owner has added nothing aftermarket. The wires are black in color.

Livtofly what is your coach build number will be like 700963.
May find in cabinet or your black case.
If you let me have it maybe we can find your electical prints.
The only problem maybe its on your chassis and not the coach wiring.

Thanks again 007, I'm looking at the black case and it says model 4099, number 600049. Hope thats what your looking for, but it doesn't say build number...says order number, I'm guessing thats the same. It's late, but tomorrow I will take some more pics of the wires and post on here. Ciao.

Also Thanks to you, GaryKD. Appreciate you looking for me and I'm starting to think that no two Dutch Stars are quite the same!

Like I said chassis battery wiring has not shown up yet on all the diagrams for coachs I have looked so far.
I'll input your number and see what we get.
Pictures would be helpful, thanks.

Heres a link to your page. There is not much same with my 03 the newer coachs have much more info. Do not know if they will add much at this point.
If we can not figure your battery wiring may have to ask Newmar tech support.

All I can say the white wire bunch look like a bunch of ground wires maybe with one lead out of it, can not see end of bunch, to connect to a ground post on a battery.
Your battery compartment is very clean good job what I can see of battery connection cables they look ok if you follow answers in previous posts & links you should be OK.
If not keep asking.

Hi Livtwofly,
On another subject you have a good looking muffler. It looks like the Areo 550. It makes a nice sound and allows for maximizing your MPG.

Hi Livtwofly,
At this point, if it were me I'd do the following:

1. If the wires are factory installed there will be no extra wire. With the battery drawer open and the tray pulled out, where to do the wires reach? What terminals do the wires reach? These are the choices for possible connection.

2. With the coach engine stopped and the coach not connected to shore power, what does not work? Check everything you can find, both on the automotive and coach side. Does the inverter (if you have one) work?

3. With the engine running make the same check.

4. Stop the engine and connect the coach to shore power. Make the same check now including all the 120 VAC appliances.

The white color of the insulation is a bit confusing to me. 12 VDC usually has a red and black wire. The thought is that when you discover what doesn't work, you will know where the wires go.

Just a thought the white wires maybe from the solenoids of your HWH jacks if you have them.
Usually they go to chassis frame for ground but your HWH control & pump maybe in that general area.
