How bad is this? Water in ceiling
We are in Austin TX and last night was quite a storm. Driving rain with totals around 4". Besides a lousy nights sleep we awoke to quite a wet spot on the bed. Took the sleep number apart and it was soaked pretty good so we towel dried, took it apart, and got a fan on it. Water came from a ceiling light above the bed. Not worried about the bed but quite worried about water above ceiling. My guess is water was driven under slide topper and found a way in coach. Certainly wish we would have brought slides in but can't turn clock back. Would like to hear if anyone has experienced anything like this and what action steps afterwards. Thanks

Must have been quite a storm! Had an '02 DSDP for 13 years and never had a leak.
Can you remove a light fixture and look inside the roof? The superstructure is aluminum so no worries about frame damage but the roof and wall panels can be damaged.

I removed the glass cover for the fixture & there was standing water. I then pulled the fixture down from the ceiling & it's obviously wet. Other than just running HVAC to dry as best we can.

Hi twojayhawks,
That is about where the rear roof heat pump is located. Consider removing the heat pump shroud and see what you can see. Maybe water got into the HVAC duct(s).

Would be worth taking a look for an open seam under the slide topper??

The main coach ceiling or the slide ceiling? If the main coach ceiling it's not likely to be from under the topper.

Need some clarification. Was the water in the slide ceiling or coach ceiling? Slide ceiling you need to look under the topper and see where the water made entry. If it's the coach ceiling, a likely spot could be the roof A/C. The roof A/C units are supposed t be snugged down every other year or so to keep the seal tight.

It's the main ceiling the light closest to the huge HVAC pull down. I pulled open the hinged ceiling door & found no wetness a all. Sounds like a adjustment is needed to tighten down rear AC.

That was a doozy of a storm. Sorry about your leak. They can be very frustrating. We needed the rain for sure. Were you leaving this morning? I saw a DS that looked like yours on Hwy 620.

Yes we left this morning. Should be going home but the coach just sort of steered itself to San Antonio instead.

Makes sense for two jayhawks to be heading for San Antonio. Go Big 12 You must have been staying at La Hacienda?

If water has built up in the AC pan and drain holes are plugged, to release water in pan the AC fan will blow water into ceiling duck and will find its way to light fixtures or ceiling seam openings.
Could also be just that the AC mounting bolts need to be tightened to compress the AC foam seal to prevent water slipping under the AC into ceiling opening.
Open things up to dry ceiling areas and do some checking of what everyone has given you should be OK for you.
