How can I customize an ordered Newmar?

Hear that Newmar will allow me to make changes when I order a new one. Tiffin would not change a thing.

How much can I change? Could I order an outside fridge in a Vantana like is in a Durch Star? Could I order a Dutch star color inside a vantana?

What kind of changes will Newmar do?

Thanks to all.

Steve

Only one way to find out. Ask them or your dealer.

We went through a dealer and added a bunch of things above the base model to our Allstar. One of the things was an outside refrig/freezer chest which the dealer actually ordered and installed, not Newmar. All of the upgrades were added through our dealer, Jon Steinbring. He was the go-between for us with Newmar.

Good luck.

Don

As Don said, best way to find out is to ask. When we ordered our coach, Newmar was willing to work with us on some changes but not others. Between our dealer and Newmar we pretty much got what we wanted.

Extra outlets, extra lights, different lights, ceiling fan, non-standard cabinetry, different and/or extra wiring, for ex. ethernet wiring for our two desktop iMacs, etc, non-standatd flooring, 3/4 length basement trays, extra bracing placed in the walls for our iMacs, which are on articulating arms.

You can make all kinds of special requests. Some can and will be done; some "nope". From memory we changed:
Redesigned the headboard on the bed and they built it exactly as I had drawn it. We had custom raised panel walls installed in the bedroom. Beveled mirrors on a wall in the living area and on one of the bedroom walls. Changes of various types on lights and light fixtures. Electric outlets added here and there. I wanted the computer desk lengthened by 16 inches to include 3 extra drawers - no problem. A shorter sofa, a window swapped to another size. Extra towel rings, different lights over the bed. All kind of stuff, just ask - and the price was reasonable too!! On the headboard on the bed and the change in the computer desk -- I did a rough drawing of what I wanted, Newmar got back to me with exact construction drawings for changes and / or approval -- when the coach arrived it was exactly as ordered. This is a big plus for Newmar over Tiffin.

We had three walls removed, a pocket door removed, MA countertops, vanity from a MA in the bath, extra roof insulation, extra 120 V outlets, extra 12 V outlets, extra telephone outlet, 100# refer/freezer on slideout tray, hardwood cabinets, full body paint, computer desk, U-line ice maker, heat pumps. In fact I can't remember all that we did but it was about $35,000 in changes/options.
They would NOT put a ceiling fan in due to the slide in the bedroom so I added it myself, had to find a 30" low clearance 6 bladed unit due to the clearance and I still have to watch my head.
As above, they sent drawings for approval too. Some things we requested they siad no can do, then a couple weeks later they said they could do it.
Just ask, all they can say is no.
BTW: our rig was overweight by 50#'s on the front axle, if I filled the fuel and propane tanks BEFORE we ever loaded a thing or got in ourselves.
After some discussion and a trip to Henderson for an evaluation they had Spartan put a 14,600# front axle in to replace the overloaded 12,000# one.

What about a slight change to an exterior color pattern? Such as if I like an exterior but would like to change the color of one of the stripes.

I was told we could change colors but not the design. Each design is unique to the buid year of the coach. They have also gotten away from model creap ie. changes or additions from mdels that are higher priced. They were having people put a Mountain Aire interior in a Dutch Star.

I know you can choose features from a lower priced coach. When we were discussing ordering a new King Aire, we were told we could choose the decor from any coach or year and I know of a 2012 King Aire with Essex fabric. Also last Sept we saw a King Aire at the factory with both the Essex design and paint colors.

I was thinking of buying a Ventana, but wanted the interior color of a Dutch Star. I also wanted to add the exterior freezer used in the DS too. Is this possible?

When I was considering a Tiffin, the factory had a fit because I wanted a stainless microwave instead of the black one.

Yes, as others have said-just ask-better in writing. We had over 60 changes, including deleting all furniture!

Freezer, probably so, the interior, probably not.

One of our changes was a Advantium 120 instead of the standard microwave, that alone was an over $700 add.

As I said earlier, we put MA countertops in our DSDP. They would NOT put the hydronic heating system in due to the "model creap" We didn't try to change the whole interior or exterior colors from normal DSDP offerings. We probably should have just gotten an MADP.
