How do I turn on drivers/passenger reading lights?
I recently purchased a 2000 Newmar Dutchstar 3858 on a Spartan Chassis. I can not figure out how to turn on the little reading lights located above the side windows on the drivers and passenger seats. There is a little turn switch on the back of them, but in both positions there is no power to the lights, bulbs are good. Any advise would be appreciated.

DJJ is on it. Turn it as if you were turning on a dome light. CCW

Passengers side may have a rocker switch on DW's side that may need to be turned on as well.

I believe you need to rotate the control for the dash board brightness to highest setting and then use the switch on each bulb holder overhead.

Thanks for the help. You guys were right, they are like a dome light. Turn the headlight switch to the left.

I had the same problem. Dome lights work now that headlight switch is turned fully left!!!yeah!!! However still can't get courtesy lights to come on. Also on my 2003 Dutch Star there are 5 switches (model 4004) in the bedroom to left of stateroom sink. Two for overhead lights, bottom three ??? No idea???. I've turned them on seperately and together but no joy in confusionville. Any ideas anyone?

Try turning all 3 on, then turn on the dash radio. 2 will run the rear speakers, your third will be the courtesy lights.
Might need to remove one of the lights to see if the bulb(s) are bad.

Mike_Harriet, thanks for the question. PDR John, thanks for the reply.
My wife and I recently purchased a 2002 DS (3852) and I was baffled by the quantity of switches. I called the previous owner who only said "one controls the speakers." Guess what? He was short a detail or two. Now I know two will run the speakers. I already knew the courtesy light switch was there and also the security light switch.
Too many switches and not enough labels. Would an owner's guide have helped? Don't know. Haven't gotten that far but this forum sure helps.
Ain't technology and the Internet grand?
