After health issues made fulltiming impractical and difficult, I moved out of my Dutch Star last July.

I listed it for sale on 7 web sites, some costing hundreds of dollars and some free.

I got some inquiries, but no offers even though I indicated I was willing to negotiate as the rig had to be sold.

I got more responses from other web sites and businesses guarantying that paying them would result in a sale. I passed.

The ratio of solicitations to individuals was about 10 to 1.

There were about 4 scams that I immediately recognized and ignored.

After 6 months and reading of member Javajelly's sale of his Dutch Star via a consignment, I contacted 3 of the largest Newmar dealers in the country.

The 2 big dealers in Florida never called me back after my initial inquiry.

I was somewhat acquainted with Lee Litchfield, owner of Lee's RV in Oklahoma City, so I shot Lee an email.

He responded withing hours. We came to an agreement on the consignment and Lee flew a tech here to Delaware to pick up the coach and the tech drove it back to Okie City.

In 5 weeks, Lee had sold my coach at a price quite close to what I had expected to net from my own selling efforts.

It was easy to work with Lee and I probably should sent to coach to him initially, but it's all done now and I have my money.

I can highly recommend Lee and his dealership as his excellent reputation is well founded.

Are you still shortiming? Would like to park next to you someday.

Good information on selling, and maybe even buying.

Thanks.

Dirk, we will be on the East Coast in the Fall. Maybe we could get together if I get close enough. Lancaster County is on our radar.

Sounds good.

That's about 45 minutes from here. I get up to Amish country from time to time.

I too agree good information.. If I ever need to replace this house.. I suspect Lee may well be stop #1 on the shopping list.

Of course, Any good salesman will tell you.. It is not important to be the FIRST place someone shops.. It is important to be the LAST!

But hey, When I bought the rig I'm typing in.. I went to the RV show. and then, the next week, I went to ONE dealer.. Just one.
