I'm trying to figure out if it's worth putting it on an '07 KS DP. Yes, I know that right now River City is under a new owner, and they really aren't doing anything yet, but everything I've heard says it's a good product.
Has anybody put that on their DP, and if so, what results have you had?

iRV2 member John Canfield added it to his 2004 Itasca Horizon and had favorable things to say...Maybe contact him by PM...
There's another member here as well whose name escapes me that was either right before or right after John...
As soon as I post it, I'm certain they'll chime in.

Don't confuse Howard Steering with Comfort Steering. Both are good, however there is no comparision to the two. One is power forced user adjustable center while the other is "fly by wire" automatic center and total control in all conditions.

Lug Nut, the Comfort Steer is not exactly a "fly by wire". I had a demo of it in Georgia at the FMCA convention a couple of weeks ago and talked to the techs about it. If it fails, or you loose voltage for some reason, your coach will drive just like it would if it didn't have Comfort Steer. It is controlled by computer, but the steering wheel is mechanically connected to the front wheels, also.
I, too, am interested in the Howard Steering System.

Welcome to the forum Ricere. Actually if the Comfort Drive were to become disabled the steering is much heavier than just not having it. The system is mechanically connected and software driven. The failure rate to date, I believe is zero. To really appreciate the CD requires at least 1,000 miles of varied road and weather conditions. When I first drove one in California last year it was equipped with a test shut off which would instantly disable it. Needless to say, it was night and day enabled and then not.

Naturally thay make the Comfort Steer not only available on the Kountry Star DPs in '08, but as you know it is standard. It wasn't even available on my old '06. Story of my life, but our '06 has been very good so far and we plan to keep it a long, long time. I just wish it had the Comfort Steer and Hydro Hot. Still can't get the Hydro Hot (I think Newmar calls it something else) in the KSDPs though.
Finally, I really like this forum. I have been following you guys (Lug Nut and Rebelsbeach) for quite a while. Just never posted before. You guys have the best coaches available, bar none. I believe the paint job alone on the new London Aire is in excess of $50,000. The paint job on the '08 I saw in GA was unbelievable! The clear coat looked like it was 1/8 inch thick.

nicere, Newmar doesn't call "Hydro-Hot" any other name,as I believe what you've come across is actually "Oasis" which is a competeitor to Hydro-Hot. Oasis is a product of a Washington State based company called "International Thermal Research"....
Hydro-Hot and Aqua Hot are manufactured by Vehicle Systems,Inc.

journeylad,
I have the Howard Precision Steering System. It was either get the Howard System or get rid of the coach. The HOward System is one of the few products I have purchased that has performed better than advertised. I use it all the time and would not be without it. If you need any details, post here or PM me.
On another subject, gee Bob, I travel for two days and am not online and you forget my name! I just can not keep up with ya'll.

I have a Howard Steering system since 2001 I LOVE IT
we had to have the coach towed in and they distroyed my cylinder 10A001-12-H , the coach came loose and distroyed the cylinder
Does any one know where I can get a new or a used cylinder.
I had a high presser switch and I ran 195 lbs of air and I wanted more air to get it to hold more on my Freightliner Chassis
I have driven since it was removed and I do not like driveing the coach at all, without the Howard Steering

I had that system on my coach. I sold that to a fella that is from Gerogetown, Tx. He only needed a small part, but I sold him the whole system. I'll see if I can find his name and email address.
