I have a 2006 Essex 4508 and the air compressor located in the left front wheel area, behind the generator does not work. Cummins Atlantic priced it at $1700 + labor. Of course, I would like to find if anyone is aware of a rebuild or parts schematic to repair it myself.
HWH advised that the compressor is an item they do not manufacture but purchase.
Thanks,
JVR

First off, R U sure the problem isn't electrical or just loose wires? Especially a loose ground... I'd jump 12v directly to the compressor motor and see if it starts. Jump both the + & - using jumper cables from your car battery. Work from there. If it's the HWH control board then back to HWH. If it's the compressor I'd suspect a basic R&R of the unit would not be challenging at all then replace whole unit - read on....

Can you ID the manufacturer? I'd contact them directly. Googling the manufacturer and the part number might also yield numerous places, even eBay like places that have it. Knowing the typically sane cost in the open market will give you better footing to negotiate with Cummins Atlantic on the parts side at least. If left unsupervised, these guys tend to quote large numbers but quickly come in line when you know your stuff. You mean HWH would not sell you the part?

I'd also consider removing it and taking it to any electric motor rebuilder, you'd be amazed at what those guys can do.

RV Dude,
Thanks for the reply, the RV is still at the Cummins shop and I haven't had a chance to check it out. I was hoping someone would know who manufacturers the compressor.

Interesting development,
Cummins Atlantic while performing chassis warranty work found the problem and asked Spartan to cover it, Spartan replied that the pump was furnished by Newmar.
Newmar told me the pump was supplied by HWH, after contacting HWH supplying the vin#, they have now advised that HWH did not furnish the air compressor and that it must have been either Newmar or Spartan?
Does anyone know if Pelosi involved with these companies?

It sure is beginning to sound like it!

She's from the government and she's here to help, right?

Hope you can figure out who put that dang compressor in there.
