HWH hydraulic leveling jacks did not extend today. 2006 KSDP, Spartan chassis, mountain master, ifs. I talked with HWH tech, they said probably the pump is not working or a valve is stuck not letting the fluid to circulate. At the top of the block are two nuts connected to a "u" shaped piece. They suggested I remove this, and check the main nut (my words, not theirs ) loosen the nut and shake it a bit. If the valve is stuck this might unstick it. The big problem in this equation is me. I'm not mechanical at all. Should I attempt this or get it into service as soon as I can?

I had that problem on my last Dutch Star. The part you are referring to is the shuttle valve and it often sticks open. It is very easy to remove and clean.

Kenn, did they walk you through a set of tests to see if the motor was running at all ? Before you venture into the hydraulic system , you have to be sure you have good electrical/fuses on all controls; and that the pump motor runs when activated from the control panel. If the pump runs and the jacks don't extend, then the shuttle valve is the next step.

Had this problem with the MA 3 years ago; after a night of camping, the HWH jacks would not go back in.
Didn't know what to do, so before calling Newmar, I touched all the fuses and relays in the fuses panel; surprise !, when I hit the jacks relay, they went back up; never had any trouble since.

I just had the same problem. Good thing it was at an NKK Chapter rally in PA (combined NJ Garden-Aires and Keystone Kampers)
After a call to HWH, one of our members being a real electrical wiz discovered a bad solenoid keeping power from the pump.
Quick trip to auto parts store for something very similar and jacks went down. Oh, up and down. I tested to make sure.
I called HWH the next work day to order their replacements, and will keep the others as spares.

Hi kenn6645,
Skip426 gave the best advice. Making sure the pump is working is the first step.

Had simila problem, jacks wouldnot extend. Traced it to a simple fuse. Fuse didn't look burnt but I replaced it anyway and all systems go.

Had same problem onbrand new 2006 dutch star 4320. Had it back to the dealer about 8 times. They would work sometimes and not work at others. After talking to a Newmar tech at the Hershey PA show, he told me it was a loose ground wire somewhere. I took it back to the dealer and told them what the tech said and sure enough, that was the problem. Haven't had a problem since.

You think Ken ever fixed his jacks?? What happens when you don't reply back when you find out and fix the problem? You think he just gave up or still underneath working on it? Back in August when his problem started. Sure would like to know if you-all's advice helped him.

When I was at Dave's Trucking in Springfield, they wanted to use my jacks to raise the chassis.
Tried to operate jacks couldn't get them to work. Put on my list of things to fix.
Now home tried to operate jacks and they worked, turns out never push brake pedal which has to be locked to operate the jack system.
Does a DP have a brake pedal that needs to be locked for jacks to operate?

Interesting question: I have a DP and always engage the parking brake before lowering the jacks. I've never tried it otherwise.
