What is the proper way of bringing your jacks up? Is there a way to slowly release the pressure? Thank you.

I have a 1996 model and it doesn't have a "store " button just the store levers. They seem stiff to move and the coach just drops. Is this normal?

ijimbo,
It would help if your post or profile mentioned what coach you have (ex. air suspension or not). I you are raising the jacks without starting the engine, the coach will just go down as the jacks are raised. If you have an air suspension, consider starting the engine first. Wait about 15 seconds and then retract the jacks. Once the engine is started the air suspension should start to fill. Waiting a few seconds may lessen the sinking feeling mentioned in your OP.

The trade-off for starting the engine to start air up prior to storing the jacks is the alarm will sound. If I'm fairly level I will not start the engine. But if I'm really out of kilter on an uneven site I will start the engine to prevent the coach from crashing.

Another tip - say something to PO your DW just prior to starting the engine, that way her screaming will drown out the alarm. Works for me! No, she does not read the forum!

You might first want to figure out if your coach will air-up before/during/after the hydraulic jacks. For example, my EX does not even start to air-up until the HWH "store" light is on. Hence, the jacks drop, dropping the coach to the suspension limits and it sits like that until "store," then the air-up starts.

Hence, it might be pointless to run the engine thinking it'll air up and soften the blow.

Tis true, what John said. The alarm will sound, but I care not. Start engine, wait a few seconds, press store on HWH and leave the coach interior to do my final walk around. When I return to the coach jacks and air are up, everything is quiet and ready to go. The wife complained ,,,,,, once. I mentioned she could accompany me on the walk around. She declined. Haven't heard a complaint since.

Had the same problem with a air ride, fixed it with this kit. HWH has a Velocity valve kit to meter the rate that the jacks retract. easy bolt on and no more sudden drops.
