Hi all, I've been Rving for many years and just got my 2002 Dutch Star last year.......LOVE it! I am in the Air Force and presentlydeployed to Kabul,Afghanistan for 6 months. I made sure everthing was good to go before I left last month but go figure something went wrong. I don't have a 8,0000 mi screwdrive to help out my wife so I'm looking for help. The problem is she moved the RV and now the levers won't come down. The control panel has a green travel light. She turned ignition to access, Hyd S/W pushed once and then again for auto leveling. She hears pump running then stops in a few second. Any ideas

I have an 02 mountain aire diesel pusher.

The only thing I can think of causing the jacks not to lower is that there is not enough hydraulic fluid in HWH resevoir , which on my rig is located to the left of generator in front of MO.

There could be other reasons, but I have to add fluid every so often.

Hope this helps.

Aime-- ajbjrvers If the resevoir is low and you can't get HWH fluid, use DEXTRON III transmission fluid.

Is the emergency break on? On the gas RV's this needs to be set to operate the jacks.

Had similar problem and spent 2 hours on phone with HWH. My problem turned out to be a bad ground. I found it by using jumper cables to jump from the ground stud on the motor directly to the chassis. Good temp fix if that is the prob. Fixed mine with a heavy duty cable from the auto parts store.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I'll give the Mrs a call from Afghanistan today and talk her through the process. GOD BLESS AMERICA. No RV's over here.

Hi 64 500xl,
Welcome to iRV2. Thank you for your service to our country.

If the previously mentioned items do not help, see if the jacks will come down when manually trying to level the coach. I think she will need to keep her finger on the buttons when leveling manually. Next determine if the pump just stops or does it sound a bit sick (overloaded) 2 seconds before it shuts down? Lastly, after the pump shuts down are any lights on the HWH panel still lit?

Please post here what you find.

If your rig is gas-- set the foot brake. It must be "on" to operate the jacks.

WOW!!! Where do I start. I'm still in Afghanistan counting the days (74) before I come home. I started my tour trying to fix my Dutch Star's levelers with a 8000 mi screw drive...it didn't work. Thanks to Joe Portelli of HWH Corp I'm up and running. It didn't happen that simple. I first ask my best friend to take a look at it but he couldn't figure it out. I called HWH 3 or 4 times and each time I was put in contact with Joe Portelli and through his great service, concern and knowledge he had my beat friend (JOE) call him and hrough the trouble shooting process over the phone for (1 hr) they shot it to the HYD pump motor. That was Joe Portelli's first suggestion the first time I talked to him after I told him the problem. The motor was $ 180.00 and my friend Joe installed it and all is well. The best part of the whole thing was the GREAT sevice I received from HWH Corp. Having my Dutch Star ready for me when I get home is a load of my mind. I really looking forward to the small things in life like drinking a cup of coffee outside the RV watching the sun come up. After spending 6 months in Afghanistan seeing, doing and experiencing thing I never thought possible.... THANK GOD for the USA. I hope to run into some of you in my travels. Thanks CMSGt George Babcheck USAF

I have attached Joe's original thoughts.

First off let me tell you if the rear is dumping there is nothing wrong with the box. We send out one signal from the control box to dump the front and the rear. The first thing I would do have the person that is working on this do is make the coach safe to be under and locate the dump valves on the frame and see if they are plugged. I am not sure where your home is but in some locations there are what they call mud daubers and they will build a next in the exhaust ports of the valves and they will not dump. Take a paper clip of something like that and straighten it out and use it to clear the ports.
If that is not an issue then turn the system on and have someone push the dump button and see if there is power and ground getting to the valve (s).
If you have power and ground and the valve is not opening it will have to be replaced. But from what you are telling me I am going to say you got a critter in there and they built a nest in your dump valve and that is why it will not dump.
If you have any other questions feel free to contact me.
Thank you
Joe Portelli
