Hydro hot
I changed the fuel filter on my 2005 Essex hydro hot. I lost the prime and can not get fuel to the burner. Any idea out there?

I have changed the filter and have not had any issues losing prime. I am assuming the unit worked fine prior to the change?
After you changed the filter did you turn unit on and off a few times to give the pump a chance to purge out any air?

I've changed mine and don't remember any issues. However, I typically pre-fill all my fuel and oil filters. If you didn't pre-fill you could try that. Should be easy to remove the filter, fill it with diesel, and reinstall.

First, the fuel tank is over 1/4 tank? Is the filter element full of fuel? Did you crimp off the fuel line and forget to release it? If all of these are good, it just needs time to fully purge the system.

Did not crimp off line. I believe there lies my problem. Going to try a suction ball and see if I can get fuel pulled up.

Also a chance for a Pin Hole in the hose, to cause it to Lose Prime.
Next check to be sure the Gasket, from the fuel filter, in in and sealed correctly, often the old o-ring is not removed causing it to not seal.
Turn off and on a few time to purge the system - sometimes this will take two or more cycles.
Best of Luck,

I always fill my filter with fuel prior to installing it and have never had an issue picking up fuel. When filling the filter be sure to fill using the outside holes and plug the center hole as not to introduce debris into the system.

If one can see fuel in the bottom of the Hydro Hot fuel filter (in the clear bole at the bottom of the filter) does that mean the filter is full and the system is primed ok)? Would bio diesel have anything to do with the Hydro Hot not firing?
