I have now had my third burst of the 3/4 inch heater hose that goes to the hydro-hot. I plan on pulling and replacing the entire hose. The old hose is very thin. My question is this does not seem to be a big problem on others but is on mine and I wonder why?. I found 1 or 2 threads but not much else.

I had my hose burst in 2008. Fortunately it was at the exit point from the engine and enough slack to re-attach. At that time I understood that an inferior batch of hose material had been used...one that had instances of thin wall thickness.

alan1:

Hydro Hot hose burst on our 06 model Mtn. Aire. Event happened in 06. Had repaired up in Denver and after pulling hose, discovered that the coolant hose appeared to be defective as at least 5 to 6 of the reinforcement threads imbedded longitudinally in the walls of this hose were missing. Had entire hose stem replaced with higher grade hoses. We did talk with Newmar and even sent a sample of the defective hose. Ofcourse ALL was covered by warranty. Ours burst closer to the furnace end of the run from the engine so coolant did flood one of our underside bays, damaging some minor stuff, but all was fixed very well.

Well it looks like I have part of a bad batch of hose, which explains why I and some others have the problem and not everyone. I plan on pulling the entire hose and replacing it. Is this a big job or does it easily pull through the chase?

Alan, before you start why not call Newmar and see if they will help with repairing this latent defect...enough instances have been reported.

I called Newmar and they sort of said some problems had been reported and might help in the repair at a dealer if I sent them part of the hose after the repair etc. After I said I would be willing to bring it back to them, all changed and they will do the repair on a goodwill basis. Time for the repair is 12 hours, much more than I thought.
