I am done with the Xite radio...

The only reason I chose the Xite radio was to have the 360 camera view. Now that I have experienced the Xite radio, I have made the decision to ditch it. The issues I have are:
* screen size is too small. 6in in the dsdp is just a shame.
* windows ce based system....really?
* Unstable logic due to the base OS is not designed for an auto. Now we have times when the navigation app will take priority over the radio controls, randomly adjusting volumes.
* the omniview 360 takes up 1/2 of screen showing a view of the coach in 360, and now way to full screen to the single camera. At 6in, the feature is unusable during many situations.
* the navigation app is terrible, and does not reflect current road conditions.
* the external input for DVR is hard to get to, and once that is displayed, impossible to toggle between nav and this screen quickly.
* example: you want to watch for a break in traffic and ensure your blind spot is open. You also have a few turns coming up. Would be nice to have the GPS toggle quickly with camera. This toggle is very slow and requires too much attention. Plus screen is so small, it is a distraction.

Now that i have vented my frustrations, and laid out the justification, I will start discussion the solution.

I want to install a 10.1" screen with adjustable angles. Features must include:

*Android oreo or higher
*1080p or higher resolution
*touch screen
*GPS, bluetooth 4.1+, Wifi, Usb, Sd card
*Am/FM. Xm optional
*DVD optional
*full support for waze, Google maps and play store
*able to run CoPilot app
*Inputs for Camera (composite) x 2
*outputs for 2nd screen (1080p+)
*controlled outputs for 2nd room (rear seat)

I have done a little research and found many that meet this criteria, in the $270-400 range.

I am still researching the radios and will post details on pros/cons. I would welcome posts by anyone that has information to share on the head unit.

I also need to document the current wiring for the xite radio. If anyone has information on this, please share.

Alpine iLX-107 to replace the XITE

While I'm sorry that you have to go through this pain, I'm feel even better, knoing that I made the right decision. Being a AV & Tech nut, my friend and I instantly agreed that the entire radio/360º system was a not even close to being a consideration, with additional insult by the huge price tag.

The XITE radio lacks SO many features, design, clarity, AND LOOK! Couple that with being completely underwhelmed by the camera display, along with being bound to the outdated Rand-McNally GPS system, and the choice for me was to opt out and stay with the stock Sony head.

I bought the Garmin 770 GPS for RV and will run that in Tandem for MANY MANY good reasons; namely, it's dedicated to GPS and will NOT disrupt your iPhone/iPad while it's doing other things.

So, your criteria aren't much different than mine, except I personally don't see any reason for you to be specific to the OS. The TOP of the heap, without a close second, is the Alpine iLX-107 | Wireless Apple CarPlay In-Dash Receiver. If you look it up, you can't help but to be blown away even at its hefty price tag of $700. It deservedly won the CES award, too.

Having WIRELESS CarPlay has been a game-changer for me in one of my vehicles. It made me look forward to being able to place my iPhone XS on the WIRELESS charging pad, yet be able to use CarPlay to do anything and everything that would have normally taken a hard USB connection...SWEET!!

And, while I can't stand using CarPlay to navigate in conjunction with other nice things like music, and using other apps as you mention, having it running is really a great safety feature since the interaction with SIRI is really darned good.

Having the outboard Garmin, I'll be able to keep my maps/nav up and running and be able to use CarPlay uninterrupted, even if it's a use a secondary nav app like CoPliot, as you mention.

As for apps on CarPlay, yes, I've used Google, Waze, Downcast & Outcast (podcasts), iHeart, Pandora, Amazon Prime, TuneInRadio, and Spotify...and they all work very nicely; some better than others.

Check it out; I think your decision will be as clear as our's:

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_500ILX...X-107&skipvs=T

You say a 10" screen, which has me wondering, since I don't have the dimensions. Do you KNOW it would fit? If so, I'd consider looking at this powerhouse of a head which has the capability of running external controls; HDMI, etc!!

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_500X11...le-System.html

Other than the Alpine, the Kenwood and Pioneer have been our favorite go-tos. But again, the wireless CarPlay is the deal-maker for me.

I dont run many apple devices, so CarPlay is worthless to me. The android auto is the equivalent for the android world.

With a native android system, you can actually run apps on the unit. It is more like a tablet. This can have issues, and I have a lot more reading to do before jumping in. I am going to start by reading what you posted. The price tag is not a big difference if the quality is there.

As for the 360 system, that is well worth the money. Just needs to be finished. I already added the dvr, giving me a dash cam and camp cam for liability protection. I am soon to be adding an LPR to the dash as an additional view.

The amount of wiring required for 360 can only be done during construction. That alone is worth the price of the option. The cameras are easily swapped for different resolution.

Yeah. Not happy with the current cams and hoping to not regret the lack of wiring of the time ever comes.

Here is one unit I am looking at:

https://amzn.to/2SNAcaf

There is plenty of room for this in the 2019 DSDP, and with the adjustable screen, it is great for both driver and passenger.

Well, wow...I’d say that unit meets all your requirements; at least on paper (screen). ;-)

As much as I love the ability to dig in, and tinker, with the Android platform...my life is complicated enough! LOL

It’ll be interesting to see where this goes; there are certainly a LOT better solutions out there!!

I ordered the Eonon version above, as there is a 10% coupon. There are several manufacturers that use the same basic system. This includes eonon, xtrons, and pumpkin.

The eonon uses a higher quality chip for wifi and bluetooth.

It lacks:CD/DVD, steering controls, hdmi input, hdmi output, and portrait mode rotation.

It includes ability for 4 camera inputs. The omniview only takes one of these since all of the video stitching is done by the control unit. I will output the dvr to another, which will allow full screen viewing of each of the 4 cameras individually.

The eonon is the only one that readily supplied wiring information and documentation, although this is still very minimal.

Since this is a full android device, it will natively support screen casting to the Sony TVs. That's a nice bonus feature.

That looks interesting. I have been thinking about a Galaxy Tab S4 256gb
with the phone sim for Verizon. Add a 400gb sdxc chip and you have a 10.4"
UHD display for navigation, traffic, weather, hands free smart phone, cell phone hot-spot to WiFi router (with 6 or 8 Tb drives) to share, plus entertainment stored inside (movies, music, photos, etc), and DeX features for keyboard/mouse plus USB-C to UHD cable to send 4K 60p to the large 4K UHD TV in the RV, and Bluetooth for the wireless sound bar in the front/rear of the RV.
A 360/security system with multiple motion sensing 4K PTZ cameras with mic/speaker and a DVR which can store and send via eithernet/WiFi to the WiFi router would complete the package. WiFi enabled phones, tablets, laptops, etc could monitor and entertain the RV's occupants in or outside.

I am done with the xite radio...

I don’t have the 360 camera, but do have the xite system. Maybe I’m not that demanding, but I have been pleased with the radio, Sirius. Navigation is so so but mainly use an iPad for all navigation running Waze, CoPilot RV, and G maps. I did the updates and this solved the lock up issue. Following to see the better solution.

If it was not for trying to maximize the usability of the 360 camera, I would ignore the xite shortcomings.

The first attempt at replacing the xite functionality was a dedicated display for my dvr that is 12", touch screen. It doubled as the display device to my windows computer that runs vmspc. In order to swap between camera and pc, it required toggling inputs on the display, which is too much effort while driving.

The other issue is windows 10 doesn't have a good GPS app, and I am always using my tablet or phone for waze and coPilot.

I am hoping to have a better solution at my finger tips with this android unit.

Since it offers native split screen, i could run my vmspc and navigation side by side. For now, vmspc will be delivered from my windows pc using remote desktop . I will be launching vmspc as a full screen app via rdp, and not a windows desktop. This will then just be an app on the headunit.

Fingers crossed

Excuse me for butting in... I'm not a Newmar owner.

My lowly Winnebago Adventurer GAS Class A, costing probably $170,000+ LESS than your DSDP came with a Riverpark Xite system with a 10.4" center monitor and a duplicate functioning 7" monitor on the DW's side of the RV.

It works great. We struggled to get comfortable with the RAND GPS, but after much learning have even come to like this part of the system.

The only thing I wish is that the main 10" display could be split between the GPS and the Rear View Camera. (It's already split 90/10 between the GPS and the Sirius XM Radio). Currently I keep the wife's 7" monitor set to display the rear view camera 100% of the time and glance across to see it when I check my passenger side mirrors. But I plan to add another 7" monitor that displays only the rear cam mounted to the dash at the base of the driver's side A pillar.

I know you don't like parts of the way your system works - but the core unit has multiple outputs (mine has 3 HDMI outputs and one Video out). Have you considered adding extra, dash mounted, monitors to the existing Xite system?

Here's my Xite System's wiring:

OK, now that's pretty shocking right there. How can that be? Sorry, for butting in.

Just guessing, but here goes my theory:

Newmar is big on brand separation. Things that separate brand appear to be determined by the respective product specialist.

When it comes to the electronics package on the dutchstar, it has the same components as the ventana with the exception of allowing the 360 omniview. Otherwise it is the same package, from TVs, Blueray, speakers, etc.

There is one more coach above the dsdp before you move to luxury line, the new aire. Then there are 4 coaches in the luxury line.

I dont know if newaire gets the hdmi version, also referred to as the omniview HD, or if that is exclusive to luxury line, but somewhere in the product lineup that display is introduced.

Further up the line ptz is an option.

So, with the limited choice from river park and xite, the decision was made on how to separate the brands, and for now Dutch star gets the low end equipment for the head unit.

I did look at replacing the unit, but it was almost $1k, and that is too much for the quality, or lack thereof, of the xite unit.
