I think the whole thing is a troll. Nothing is reliable in a 12 year old coach. Not saying it does not work or may not keep working, am saying in may break at any time.

The toilet trick is why we never hook to city water. It happened to us with the old unit. Now we run off tank water because it limits the amount of damage that can be done while alerting us because the pump is running. Also easy to just shut the pump off and avoid issues when gone as well as using the fresh gauge as a check against the black and gray tank gauges.

That's like calling my 57 T-Bird a lemon because the radiator sprung a leak. I would lay the blame on your dealers shoulder's, and a little on you as well. You probably should have verified that the dealer did what he was supposed to do, before you left. And with a new to you coach, I would have probably turned the water off before I left, for the first few times. I know that's not what you want to hear, and you have enough problem to think about right now. Good luck! Get her fixed and enjoy it!!!

Sorry you bought a coach with issues. Things like this can occur with all vehicles that are older.

I think your title is inappropriate for the complaints you have.

It should read "I will not buy a used coach again".

My Monaco must have been a lemon too! If performed flawlessly for 9 years and then the toilet valve on the Thetford toilet broke and started flooding the bath while we were watching TV. Then Monaco had the nerve to install tires that only lasted 7 years. Looking back, that coach was nothing but trouble!

Can't blame Newmar for some of that. Hose breaks on hydro hot. Newmar didn't make that hose. Toilet filled and ran over. Did you check to make sure the valve had secured itself so water wouldn't run? Owner error there if you didn't. Slide out don't work. Can't comment on that as you didn't describe more. Come on it's 11 years old and things do happen. You've owned 5 and this is the only one that has failed you so you wouldn't purchase another one. Hmmm. I guess you shouldn't purchase another used coach as these problems can happen with any brand.

Like others have said, I believe your issue is with the dealer not Newmar. Prior to buying the coach did you have it inspected to determine whether you were buying a well maintained MH? All MHs that old have problems.

We live fulltime in our 2004 Mountain Aire 4301 coach. Ours was purchased a year ago used from a local dealer that specializes in consignment sales of high quality used coaches. Prior to finalizing a sale the coach is checked to make sure all systems work and all obvious problems are taken care of. He won't work with owners that are not willing to spend the money to get thing fixed because his reputation will be the one that suffers. With that being said we expected to find a few problems on a used coach. We have been extremely pleased with the Newmar Mountain Aire it's a beautiful coach. I like being busy and am the happiest when I have projects to do and a tool in my hand. A motorcoach is complex piece of equipment with many different systems. Learning those systems and how to fix and maintain them is necessary unless you have a fatter wallet than I do. The IRV2 forums is a great resource for information to help with problems that might occur.

Not to mention the fact that Monaco obviously installed a fuel tank that had a leak, why on a long trip, I'll bet you constantly had to refill the tank because the fuel was apparently leaking out somewhere!

Hope the OP can get past the initial teething issues and settle down and enjoy his (new to him) coach!

Not for nothing, and I am not a lawyer, but a motorhome that has multiple problems does not qualify as a "lemon" unless a problem cannot be repaired or replaced by a dealer, within a period of time. The fact that you have lots of problems, and poor dealer support is another issue, and one with which I have dealt over the years, but has nothing to do with a lemon.

Would you say the name of the Dealer? We bought our 2903 Baystar in Junction City and have been very happy so far. I have had to do a few things with cabinet hinges and a few other things but don't mind. Ours was new when we bought it. We have had 4 MH's and their is always something that needs to be done. Never bought one 11 years old though. I don't think the dealer would know that it had problems if someone traded it in and told them everything was good with it.

There, I deleted the 12year old part for you

Your bad deal is NOT a Newmar problem.
You nailed it.

Yes buy new. You wouldn't have had to buy so many in the past if you bought new!
