Would You put 6"x6" Blocks under Jacks and Lift??

Would you Dump Air??

Would you put Air/Hyd Bottle Jack under HWH Jack Pads???

Would you Dump Air??


For Rear Would you Jack under The Diff????



For Front!! If it is IFS????

1) use coach hydraulic jacks to raise the corner
2) place 12T hydraulic jack under axle/IFS as needed & jack to a safe level w/tire ~1" off pavement
3) use torque-multiplier & long handled 1/2" ratchet to bust lug nuts loose
4) use long handle pry bar to lift tire off lugs
5) throw flat in toad & get it fixed/replaced
6) reverse 4-1 for install, using 24"L x 1/2" drive torque wrench to achieve 475ft-lbs on nuts.

Ya'll are crazy. Most of us can't lift a tire much less a tire and wheel. Throw it in the toad... what the back seat? My tires are 22.5 and thats the id. I could put that in the toad but I don't know what I would do with the od.

Call road service and save yourself a trip to the ER...with or without government health care.

Oh, btw, you ever see the jacks they use...I can hardly pick it up and we all need to haul a 50 lb jack around just in case we need a heart attack.

The reason I developed the above process (not all that clever, its just changing a big tire), is we travel where there is on roadside service (Baja, Mexico). If you didn't bring it it ain't there.

#1 is the coach HWH (or equal) jack. This takes a small amount of study. My rig has air bag suspension, so raising the wheel off the ground will stretch the bag. I just take the strain off the suspension w/the coach jack, then take the (#2) 12T hydraulic jack (I carry 3 of them) which is combo safety & helper lift, and take the tire to the 1" off pavement. That's the only time I'm under the coach is to position the safety jack. If I'm on a slope, I use 2 jacks, just in case. My primary safety jack is a Craftsman I've had a while, but it was made in Taiwan. The other two are Chinese so nuff said about quality. If my life depends on it, I stack wood under the axle. For changing a tire you don't have to spend much time under the rig except to position the jacks.

When the ERS tech got there, I asked "your jack or mine"? He said yours if they will lift high enough. Put a block under the jack, and up we went! He changed tire, put on spare, and off we went.

We have 365/70s on the front. I would like to see someone lift one of these tires/rim and throw it into the back of a truck.

Sue- We were 650 miles into Mexico w/a broke down motorhome. I had isolated the problem to the fuel injection pump. I finally got to the GM service manager in La Paz (another 250 miles south). His advice on how he could assist was priceless: "Meester, we never sell dat electronic chit down here." Its surprising what you can do when you hafta. I changed the pump with the help of a friend, retimed the engine, and it ran perfectly for years.

Two people can hoist that tire & wheel if needed. Just don't try to dead lift it yourself.

I'm with you Dave, I carry an unmounted spare and if I have a flat I'll let my ERS worry about how to change it. Although I don't travel in Mexico, I'm pretty sure that someone down there can change a tire for a few pesos.

I agree on calling for a Tire Guy But when He arrives Do you lift with the Coach Jacks or with His Jack???

Where would the Tire Guy position His Jack for Lifting???

Not sure I would want someone changing my tire if he didn't know how to jack the vehicle up. Is this a real concern with these services ?? Not ever having to have a flat changed (knock on wood), I have always assumed the service provider would have the equipment and/or expertise to do the job.

Something else to worry about or just phobia ???

When the Spartan service guy at Newmar needed to get one of our front wheels off to inspect the hub (leaking problem), he used the HWH jacks to lift the wheel up, and then put jack stands under there to hold it.

I think he also put a wood block under the jack leg to make sure it had enough travel to get the wheel all the way off the ground.
