In Motion Satellite
After picking up this new '14 Essex, one of the first things I did was to remove the low voltage plug/wires from the J-box next to the over-dash TV. This allowed the TV to operate while underway. So yesterday we began our maiden voyage and low and behold, the HDMI feed to that TV cut out the instant I released the parking brake! The satellite guy at the dealership says he's never heard of this and has always just pulled that plug and it allowed the system to operate while on the road.
Apparently, they built this one especially for ME and guys on this board like DSDon and Spinn....ya know....trying to mess with our minds? When I get back to TX I will pull that air brake switch out of the dash and examine the circuitry, but before then, has anyone had this same issue?

Bob, NO Texting and NO TV while driving!! Thinking those Newmar guys may have been looking out for you when they did your wiring. Those afternoon Ranger games will just have to go to the DVR......hahahaahaha! Look forward to seeing you on the 4th.
Best.....DM

Have had that issue in other vehicles before. You're right about the parking brake wiring and probably just need to locate the suspect wire and apply +12v or keep it grounded. Get ready for more pro-government, anti-freedom comments to come.

Hey Drifter, they were doing that for guys like YOU! They know carol needs to watch FoxNews ALL day long....even while on the road. You should see her this AM. I got the iPod hooked up through the radio, but that ain't good enough for a Queen.

My guess is that another plug in the cabinet has a relay as well. The hdmi splitter is powered. Try relocating the splitter to another outlet.

Why would they sell you an in motion satellite and then make it inop when in motion?
Kinda defeats the purpose..

I was thinking the same as "redbaron73". I'm sure your Essex has the HDMI package and they are powered by 110 voltage.

I would like to know where those low voltage wires are located for the up front tv on my 2012 4329 Ventana so my wife could watch while traveling.

They are wires on the side of the receptacle that connect to a relay. The relay is a Normally closed, and current applied opens the relay, disabling the plug.

Don, I have both the w. traveler and a KVH dome sat, operated through an A/B switch. Winegard connects through an swm - 3 setup.

I thought mine was ready to go, now your making me wonder if it will work. I did start it, but I didn't release the brake. If that doesn't work its going to be a long ride!!!

Newmar overhead TV's
If you have an overhead tv set up in your Newmar, can you view your GPS on it?
Seems it would or could be doable and kind of nice. Have not read or recall in any threads to my knowledge.
Just asking.
Tom
