Info re Dutch Star
I have been an RVer for 5 years and am considering a new model but have a concern. I am looking at a new 40 ft Dutch Star and love the floor plan and amenities. My concern is that I live in Florida and the 40 ft only comes with two a/c's. My current motorhome has 3 a/c's and they can hardly keep the main cabin livable during the summertime. I am interested if any current Dutch Star owners can share their experience in this area.

Newmar's are among the best insulated RV's out there. We have a 4090 and have been in Yuma in 90° weather and only had to run one of our two 13.5 heat pumps to keep us and our cats comfortable.

Seems strange you can order ( 3 ) 15k units on a Ventana but only ( 2 ) on a Dutch Star unless its 43' ?

We have a 43 ft. Mt. Aire and have been in AZ at 100+ with two 15K airs and were very comfortable (low 70s'. I can't see the need for 3 airs in any coach particularly a Newmar with their insulation. Of course the humidity is far less in AZ than FL.

Hi BarnesL,
Welcome to iRV2 and the Newmar Owners Forum. My coach has 2 13.5 heat pumps. There is no problem keeping the coach cool. My S&B is in south Florida. When you order the coach, get the 15 size heat pumps. Then you can cross this item off your list of things to worry about. If your still worried, have Newmar install a 3rd unit. Gut feel says they will do it.

We were told by the dealer that the roof area had been reworked for 2015 because of the integrated awning and they no longer offered the third a/c. They are 15k however.

Info re Dutch Star
You're looking at new, and ours is 12 y/o (2 roof units). Yet, we have often remarked- winter and summer- on how well insulated this coach is. We've never been uncomfortable.

There were times I wished I had 3 ACs in my 40' DSDP.
Sometimes the two 15K units had trouble keeping it cool.

I'm in FL too... we have a 43' 2013 DS.... 4338, it has 3 -15k units. A couple months after we go it, the middle AC's compressor froze up, so we went with 2 until we got it replaced. We were in 95 degree weather and 95% humidity down by the beach and the 2 units kept the inside cool. In looking at the specs, the roof is R19 and sidewalls R11 and floor R16

Hi BarnesL,
I'd get another dealer. It is true the roof had to be reworked for 2015. However, this was to accommodate the integrated awnings, rear spoiler and higher front cap like on the high line coaches. Write the order with the 3 heat pumps. There is nothing about the rework that would involve the heat pumps. Lastly, I would believe nothing that dealer says. Call Newmar yourself and get the truth from the source. If you make the deal contingent on the 3rd heat pump, you will get the 3rd heat pump.
