Intellipower 9100 heat shut down ?


While staying 4 days in Dallas with 99+ temps, on the last day I observed that my batteries were not charging, even though I was hooked up to shore power. Since I was leaving the next morning, I did not get to involved beyond basic fuse/breakers.

The next morning, I started up the engine and all was charging fine. After a drive to Houston 5- hours, I had fully charged batteries again. I then plugged in at home and checked all batteries and charger output, all was good (13.4 v) and to specs. After reading the company web page it seems like maybe I had a overheat sensor turn the converter off (99 outside and that bay was facing the sun)!

Anybody have this happen to them? Any thoughts?

Thanks 007, looks like this might have been the source of my shut-down. I will have to study the bay and look for a sollution.

The only time my 9180 has ever "Shut down" I noticed it long about 3am when I went to check into a radio net.. I "hit" the switch for the alternative converter (Prosine 2.0) and checked into the net..

Next morning I went out and plugged the Intellapower back in.

Yup, I'd snagged the cord and pulled the plug taking the big heavy power snake out of the compartment where they both live when on the road.
Home is where I park it!
