Intellitech Slide Controller Question

When we packed to come back to Fayetteville from Florida last month my living room slide locks would not activate. I drove home without them locked and then took the coach to a local repair shop to be repaired.

I have many health issues due to several back and neck surgeries. I could do little more that look at the controllers and say "yep, those are the controllers." My body doesn't contort like that anymore so I could do little more than find the online schematic and then the controllers and look at them before my back said enough.

Long story shortened. My repair guy finally determined that the amperages were wrong for the locks on the living room slide locks and made the appropriate adjustments. I'm picking up the coach tomorrow.

What I would like to understand is what caused a controller that was working two weeks priornot work when we packed to leave? I didn't even physically inspect them, bump them or tinker with them. In the particular bay where the living room controller is located, I don't store anything but leveling boards. They come no where near contacting the controller which is attached to the chassis nearly two feet above. What could have happened?

How twitchy is the amperage adjustment on these things? The trouble shooting guide says to only turn the five degrees at a time and then be quite careful.

Is there an external cause that may have taken them out of adjustment? Or perhaps a power surge? As an aside, my surge protector went south before our Florida trip and I had no time to replace it prior to departure.

What does the collective say about this? I am really curious as to why the change in this controller.

Crickets? Can no one give me an idea as to what may have caused this? Surely rough roads didn't change the adjustment.

Charlie,
The Intellitech controllers can be VERY finicky! You didn't state if you had shore power connected, genset running or on batteries. Our kitchen slide often has to be "walked" up the incline to get it closed and yes the amperage adjustment is very sensitive! Best mode of operation is on shore power or with the genset running to maximize your DC voltage!

In "walking up the incline" I gather that you have to manual assist it? And no we did not have shore power. The lighting strike and power outage negated that possibility. My coach has AGS so when we awoke to the generator starting I knew something had happened.

Reading through the Intellitech trouble shooting guide it says that when adjusting the amperages, only move the potentiometer 5 minutes at a time. I could see where to adjust them but could not contort my body to get to them.

No, if the slide stops while retracting, normally at or on the incline, you release the switch, momentarily engage the switch, to reverse direction, and then engage the switch again. This will usually "coax" the slide out up the incline.

Ah, I understand now. Thank you.
