If the DLS-45 does not have one, it would be a very good idea to add. It turns the DLS into a fairly good 3 stage charger which will charge the batteries quickly when needed but not boil them with too high a float voltage when they are charged.
The golf cart batteries like to be charged at 14.4 to 14.6V or more, depending on the brand, and like to float at about 13.6V, without the IQ4 the DLS uses 13.8V which is a compromise.
