Is Newmarís King an odd sized mattress

Looking on Comnet, lists the size of the King mattress as 72x80. I am looking for a mattress topper. The closest size I can find is 76x80. Does anyone know where I can get a 3 or 4 inch mattress topper to fit Newmarís King bed? I am assuming the dimensions are whatís listed in Comnet. We are in a campground and donít have one of my 20 tape measures. Since I had my back surgery 3 years ago, even the upgraded mattress from Newmar hurts my back after 3 nights. Iím trying to avoid replacing the entire mattress.

Thanks in advance for the guidance.

We have the same bed in our Bay Star and the wife bought a queen-sized topper, put it on the bed sideways and cut off the excess. It's a little short at the foot of the bed but it needs to be because when the slide retracts, the foot of the bed has to fit under a closet.

Buy foam topper that's larger than mattress and cut to fit. Problem solved.

Bill.....76 x 80 is standard king bed. 72 x 84 is called a California king. Even though the 76 x 80 is a standard size, you have to do some hunting to find them. I don't know about the Bay Star, but one thing Newmar does wrong (in my opinion) is that they make the end of the bed slide under cabinets when the slides close. By sliding under the cabinet, they only allow for about a 10" tall mattress. This does not allow for the purchase of a good quality mattress, which needs to be thicker. So the only thing that fits are cheap mattresses or the air mattress which we personally hate.

So......be careful and check for height before you add a topper.

72 x 80 is an RV king. Itís the common size on RVs with a king size bed. There are sheets and other bedding pieces made specifically for 72 x 80 mattresses; not sure about mattress toppers.

In the mattress industry the shorter King and Queen size mattresses that sometimes used in RV are referred as Short King and Short Queen, or RV King and RV Queen. Can be found on-line at several different sources depending on the type of topper your looking for.

Bill, we bought our topper from Camping World, I know, I know. Donít usually shop there, but the wife told me to get a topper and get one that fits! We have an RV Temperpedic (copy) 72x80 then the 72x80 topper from Camping World. Dutch Star Don is right, you have to watch the closets in the Dutch Star on the full wall slide. Our mattress and topper just barely slide under those closets. It took me awhile to find this topper and it was at CW, then waited 4 months until they had a sale that nobody else could beat. It is high quality and I think we paid $520.00 for it. That same topper was selling for $680.00 everywhere else. I know itís pricey, but we sleep well, donít ache in the morning, and the wife is happy with it.

Okay, sorry, after I thought about it for awhile it was the Temperpedic copy that we paid $520.00 for. The topper was also from Camping World because it fit the bed and still fit under the closets - that was about $140.00. We didnít have to trim anything and fits great. Sorry, I got mixed up on that. Iím forgetting what we bought for the coach/s at times! We are due to start again because our 2020 Dutch Star 4081 is suppose to arrive this week!

Bill, as a multi-back surgery survivor, I'm thinking you need a FIRMER, not softer bed. If so, forget the topper.

Yes, the std. "king" in most all coaches is a 72x80. Newmar's has about a 20 in. radius curve at the bottom-fits their comforters, etc. You can find a 72x80 mattress, topper, etc on Amazon and other sites.

But if you really want to get a proper fitting bed, you'll have to go with a custom one. I have bought 2 from Comfort Custom Mattress in Ft. Lauderdale/Plantation area of Florida. If you go there they will put together a few slabs of foam for you to try out...then they sew the cover to fit. You can get any thickness you want and we opted for a firm on one side and softer on the other. Even built it with the 10 in. radius, but they'll do ANY size/shape you want. They even will sew up a mattress pad and sheets to fit exactly.

You can buy a number of foam beds online, but the problem I had is ...how do I know the comfort level and they won't always do the exact shape you want.

Good luck with your search...my BACK feels for ya!

We bought a Simmons mattress in a box to replace the king in our Baystar. 10" very comfortable and fits under the closets when slide is closed

We bought a 76x80 3" foam topper at Costco for $126.00. Measured, marked and used a very sharp cook's knife to cut off 4" along one side. Fits great, and doesn't affect the slide operation. We put a regular mattress pad on top.

I ordered a 3" Gel memory foam from Camping World. We will try that on or last trip of the season in November. If soft is not what I need, I will start looking for a firmer alternative from Comfort Custom Mattress.
