In my water supply compartment. Right behind the panel is a pump. Anytime I fill the fresh water tank I have to turn a lever clockwise in order to let the water fill the tank. The problem is as soon as I turn this lever the pump starts to run. If it takes 15 min to fill the fresh water the pump runs for 15 min. On the panel there is a a swith marked (PUMP), No matter how I flip this switch the pump continues to run. Also the pump will run if I open the (LOWER DRAIN) knob. By this switch not being able to turn off this pump is a defect, or is there something I do not understand ?

The pump needs to be switch-offable (is that a word?). Eventually the pump will run forever and burn up (mine just did). It should be switched off every time you leave the coach, when you fill up, etc.
Have you pulled the switch to see if it has wires connected to it? Also the switch could be defective & not disconnect, so if there are wires, then check continuity on the switch contacts each way. Beyond that possibilities get more convoluted.

It is really hard to get to this switch, but I did by feel get my hand up there high enough to feel the 2 wires coming off the switch. I was able to unplug 1 of these wires, and it made no difference. I have an appt. at the Newmar Factory june the 15th. And this above issue is on my list. But I thought I would ask anyway. thanks Vacman

You may have up to three locations to turn pump on. On your panel with tank levels, HW electric heater switch, security lights, you will have a master light for the water pump, if light is lit one of the switchs for water pump is active. ALL switchs should be off when filling your water tanks and pump will not operate.

Exactly and check the "quick tips and easy mods" if you want to change the switches so that ANY ONE can turn pump on or off!

I have been looking Dave and have not found your conversion for water switch's, I remembered you doing it but can't find.
I did find this, maybe this is what you had in mind.

Yes, actually we used the Intellitec MPX 10amp Latching Controller. Maybe I did not put it on the "mods" thread. It is here-

Hi VACMAN,
The previous posts have your solution. Make sure all pump switches are off.
1. outside utility bay
2. inside master utility monitor panel
3. toilet
Because you have the 1 1/2 bath model there may be another pump switch in the 1/2 bath.

Vacman,
As others stated, ALL the pump switches must be in the down or off position. In my '07 DSDP 4307, that means both baths, the pull out panel below the sink in the kitchen, and the master switch in the wet bay. The tank fills much more quickly with all pump switches off.
