FL depends on the value of the vehicle and I think our rate is much much lower than CA. Ours was like $43/year for the coach - I don't think we pay $300 for all our vehicles (6 including 2 boats) per year.

In Texas, it’s based on weight. On our 2017 DSDP 4018, we pay about $365 a year now that we got the weight corrected at the DMV. Typical car is about $70.

When our sloppy dealer registered the title a year ago, he managed to report the weight as about 52,000 lb which would have cost us over $500 a year! Correct empty weight is closer to 37,000 lb.

I’m still waiting on refund from DMV for last year’s overpayment.

Oh, and there is still no income tax in Texas. We could use some CA Prop 13 for the property taxes, however.

No sympathy here in NV. $4,000 for a coach of lesser value than yours. However it does decrease about 10% per year.

It’s no secret that a lot of Californians are headed out of state to retire. Texas and Idaho are high on the list.
We also pay the sales tax 100% on every RV purchase, I understand several states just charge for the difference in value, if I have it correctly; sell or trade your $200k MH and purchase your new to you $300k MH. Your only pay sales tax on the $100k, not so in California, we pay the tax on the $300k and sales tax is 7.5 to 9.5%.

Ahh yes. I'm a business owner that did leave. Born and raised there. My fleet of vehicles was burying me in taxes and fees.

My Mh was $1800 four years ago. Registering it in Florida the nice girl (fantastic DMV type person), thought my wife and I were loony when we started laughing at the $400 license plate fee which is transferable to another vehicle. Our registration the last four years now has been less than $100 a year.

Insurance is about the same here. You cannot have a beater vehicle without insurance even if it is registered properly. Thinking it is not worth the money for example if it is totaled. You must have insurance on it. No insurance can get you arrested. They can cancel your license and you might not even know it if traveling.

It is a no fault state. And glass is 100% covered.

I don't have a bill quite like yours, but the CA tags for my 2015 Chevy 3500 will be $852 this year. For a truck :( The trailer tags are only $180ish. And its not like the money is going where they said its going. Yay more bike paths! And more pot-holes because they spent all the money on Bike Paths.

In Louisiana I pay $100 for two years. Was raised in Socal. Don't know how "average joe" does it.

Here in KY, it cost $21. That is $14 cheaper than getting a marriage license!!!

However, we also have to pay our property taxes at the same time, and that is based on the vehicle value or $.45 per $100 BlueBook value.

Kentucky does have a "Freddie Freeroader" provision whereas if you live here, you must register your vehicles here.

Just registered our new to us 2015 Canyon Star 3610 here in South Carolina. Where we have a personal property tax on every vehicle owned. It is a depreciating tax. but this year, our first, was $1400 personal property tax and $500 registration fee. Total = $1900. Plus we are WAY behind CA and many other states in $$ earnings.
