Jayco challenge to Newmar?

I found a 1-16-18 article on the Internet about a Jayco/Spartan showing of a 2019 37' Embark at the Tampa RV show. This is a bit from their press info:
The Jayco Embark luxury coach is designed to meet consumer demand for a premium, more accessible package for younger RV buyers, as well as customers looking to drive a smaller coach, while remaining on the premium motorhome foundation. Spartan's premium chassis features an independent front suspension with Bilstein shocks, providing the 37-foot coach with best-in-class ride and handling; it also features better serviceability, and Spartan's extensive service and support network.
The Embark Class A Diesel luxury motorhome features:
  • Three eye-catching premium exterior paint choices
  • Choice of two stunning interior décors
  • Galley kitchen galley complete with residential refrigerator with ice maker and water dispenser, induction cooktop, 1.5 cu. ft. convection microwave oven, solid-surface countertops and stainless steel sink
  • Versatouch Lyra command center with App
  • Entertainment system including a 50-inch LED HDTV with a sound bar in the living room and a 32-inch LED HDTV in the bedroom
  • Exterior 39-inch LED HDTV
  • Industry-leading manufacturer's limited 2-year warranty and 24-hour roadside protection plan
The Spartan K1 360 chassis features:
  • Industry first Cummins B-series engine packaged chassis with an Independent Front Suspension
  • Bilstein 46mm shocks which provide consistent ride tuning
  • Easier serviceability with Spartan's exclusive side-mounted service center
  • 10,000 lb. towing capacity
  • Raised rail design for frame strength and basement storage
  • Rear-mounted radiator and charge air cooler, parallel air flow system with low-profile radiator with clutch to minimize noise and dust kick-up
Did anyone look at this at the show last week?
Jayco and Spartan seem to have missed the news that the 37' DSDP has an independent front suspension, 450HP ISL, side radiator. However, in my opinion, the crappy 2018 DSDP 3718 floor plan should be replaced with the 2018 VTDP 3715 floor plan as a 2019 model. I am 77, 265 lbs, 6'2" with achey joints and near fainting if I stand too fast and a small 36" corner shower kills any floor plan choice for me. The Ventana 3715 has a rectangular shower which could be a 40x32, an option for 2 recliners with a cabinet across from the fold and tumble 74" couch across from it, plus it may have the very best galley space of all the 2018 Newmars for food prep for an owner that enjoys cooking. I liked the 2016-17 4941s, the MADP 4047 too but they were not acceptable because of the small 36" corner shower. The 2018 Ventana 3715 would be great if Newmar put it on a chassis with the same size tires, wheels, rear brake drums, and front axle capacity (15.2K lbs) as the 37' DSDPs for safety reasons. The Ventana should be able to stop as well as a Dutch Star. I want a less than 40' RV so I can be under 65' when towing a F250 4x4 diesel toad.

We are one of the younger families looking for a higher end coach. We did look at it at the Tampa show and were impressed with it. However, the floor plan doesn't work for us. For the life of me, I don't understand why most manufacturers haven't caught on the idea to completely separate the bunks with doors. Doesn't make sense to me and theres always space to do it. Regardless, it is am impressive coach and was surprised to see it there.

This new offering from Jayco has prompted quite an uproar over on the Entegra forum. Some folks are concerned that Thor (owner of Jayco, who, in turn, owns Entegra) has apparently designed this coach using the front and rear caps from a “classic” Entegra. The concern is this might cheapen the brand for Entegra Owners. Others are concerned about Jayco borrowing Entegra’s favorite tag line - “Quietest Riding, Best Handling Coach on the Market Today......Period!” - and I guess it would be fair to say they are skeptical as to the veracity of that claim.

Show price was $219,900.

You can’t tell from the pictures, but the floor plan is a bit strange. They put in the big theater seats and then stuck the TV way down at the other end in front of kitchen at a right angle (tilted). Extended watching would be a real pain in the neck.

The front and rear caps look exactly like those on my pre-Entegra Travel Supreme....

Personal opinion....the B series engine in the New Aire and this Embark are a deal breaker. Seems the builders are going backwards putting these small underpowered engines in a heavy coach. They may be marginal in the east, but out west, you might as well add pedals. I'm guessing the B Series is a very cheap engine to use.

Thor at its best. Their branding strategy is a mystery.

"Stunning" and "eye-catching" descriptions instead of comments on build quality should give you a hint of what they are aiming for...

All the hype about the Spartan chassis ignores the fact that most issues come from the house portion of the coach.

They are the entegra caps from the pre 2015s. Thor is really degrading the entegra brand. I would be very upset if I owned an entegra, I am glad we sold ousr before this happened.

For those of us who want to research the Chassis specs for power per liter:
Gas 6.7 has 54.03 HP and 68.21 Torque
ISB 6.7 has 53.73 HP and 119.40 Torque
ISL 8.9 has 50.56 HP and 140.45 Torque
ISX 12 has 41.66 HP and 137.50 Torque
ISX 15 has 40.33 HP and 130.00 torque

A 10 liter engine with the ISP HP/liter= 537.3 HP
with the ISL torque/liter= 1404.5 Torque.
If Cummins made it would it have near ISB fuel economy?
