Just received new fire extinguisher Recall yesterday

I just received my new Kidde fire extinguisher on the recall yesterday and wondering how much this little miscalculation cost that company? Plus the nuisance for customers having to return the old one.

It seems the money crunchers in these companies would realize what a little more quality control would save the companies. Look what it must have cost Newmar for trying to save by buying cheaper furniture coverings on the 2015 Dutch Stars and overlooking the fact some chassis frame changes along with the FWS mechanism would overload the front axles on the 2016s.
Company execs are sure laying down on their jobs, which probably just passes all the costs on to us.

Could be worse. Some countries don't have any such system to recall defective goods. Happy they have such a system in place to rectify such mistakes.

I have not checked mine yet due to the conflicts that others are having to get them replaced. I also have a 5 pounder that could be in the recall that I keep in my pegboard compartment.

Replaced ours with supplied unit shipped to me. The old one is in a box waiting for Fedex pickup today.

Just curious, how long did it take from the time you called and got the process started, until you received the replacement. I've been waiting over three months.

I think I got my replacements in weeks, not months. Call them, they ship via Fedex so they should be able to tell you if they've shipped or what the problem is.

It was taking a while (3 weeks) to get one type. I called and the units were on back order. Expected delivery was and additional 2 weeks. It arrived as stated about 2 weeks. For the millions they are having to handle it think the process is going pretty good.IMHO

US and Canada alone was something like 47 million+ units. I had a bit of challenge since one of mine was from Canada but overall about 4 weeks end to end to get them replaced.

FYI you need to call FEDEX for a pickup. Since the units are HAZMAT you can't drop them off at a Fedex shipping location other than an actual FEDEX hub.

I waited less than two weeks. The only problem thatI heading the process was finding the model number. It was located on the “French side” of the label.

I ended up with five extinguishers including the original coach unit. Got them within a couple of weeks. Found one with a production date of 1978 in the garage! Darn, not covered, have to buy a new one.

Return process for the two we had was simple and straightforward. As for the cost, most large mfg companies carry product recall insurance. If Kidde had that coverage in their insurance package, the cost to them may have been minimum.

Got my notice the other week, called the number, provided my info and 3 days later the new one was at my house. Put old one in box, called FedEx and it was done. Easy, fast. Now hopefully it will collect dust and never be needed.

Unless I am doing something wrong the model that came with my 2017 Ventana LE is not on the list of the recalled models. I have the E10 or E10H model.

My big one that I keep in my compartment is on the recall list.
