My keyless entry system is not responding to the key fob. I changed out the batteries on fob and still no response. To make matters worse, one of the numbers on my external combination key pad does not work either. Any ideas on where the system is located and any fixes?

I never leave the coach without my KEYS!

Hi Jerry! That is probably where your problem lies. The number that does not work is probably stuck. Keep trying to push that number until it decides to free up. Can be tempermental. That would be my guess. Let us know the outcome. Paul

The keyfob on mine did not work due to the internal wiring, located behind the dashboard (which a Newmar tech re-connected at a rally). The external number, which is the first in my code, is reluctant to work, but will if I press another first. So, when that happens, I press another number first, let it cycle out, and then my first number will work.

My keyless entry pad failed initially when wet from rain, then began failing intermittently, and finally the number 5 gave up the ghost. I reported the problem to Newmar and eventually got them to replace under warranty. No one could tell me why the unit failed.

I had a guy next pad to me with a new 06 DSDP in 06 that left his unit using the keypad and took no keys. He came back keypad wouldn't work and he had visions of having to break a window to get in. We were a 100 miles from anywhere in CO mountains. Unbelievable luck, we found a former RV dealer camping near us who had kept a huge ring of keys and one of them worked. I have never left w/o keys since that time. On my own 06 one of the digits wouldn't work most of the time so I programmed around it and it has worked well.

Interesting Update:

1. My number 5 button also failed. I have only been able to make it work once since the failure. How do these buttons work? Since they do not press in, I assume they are sensitive to touch. I am going to reprogram it and avoid 5.

2. Keyless entry worked today when not connected to shore power. When we returned home today and hooked up to shore power, the keyless entry worked twice and then failed.

Why would it be affected by shore power?

I will have to call Newmar in the morning.

Two of the pads on mine failed after a little less than a year of operation. My Newmar dealer replaced it under warranty. Only thing they could tell me is that a lot of them fail. The new one worked well for about 3 months, but now I'm starting to see some abnormal behavior.

If Newmar will not cover under warranty, it is probably not worth fixing. I was told by Newmar that the keypad works with the keyless entry key fob. The only thing I can check is the ground connection or let a dealer mess with it.

I have had two keypads replace under warranty. Seem the keypad does not like cold weather, works fine when the temp is about 75 or higher. The fob has a fuse( an or relay ) in the fuse box in front of the drivers side front wheel. You should check that. I do not remember which one (SRS) it is.

NEVER LEAVE THE RIG WITH OUT YOUR KEY!!!!!!!

I had my keyless entry worked on when at Klub Newmar in Nappanee this past year. They said they had to reset the dip switches in the control box located in the dash. We have had a "ghost" problem with the system locking and unlocking the coach mysteriously. Sometimes it would do it three or four times a day then go weeks without doing a thing. We had to have the touchpad replaced at the dealer where we purchased the coach. Newmar diagnosed it as being the problem. However, they didn't replace it when at Klub Newmar. JellyKelly, you and I have sister coaches. Same color and floorplan.

My problem is the same. Do you know specifically what Newmar did to the dip swithes in the control box?

Just had the keypad replaced on our DP4304. It's been an ongoing problem that Klub Newmar addressed when we were there. Their work on the control box did not remedy the problem. They elected not to replace the keypad at that time. If I fail with Newmar, I'm faced with a plus $300 bill for the keypad. Trying to get them to recall the emails we sent after our visit has been stonewalled. We learned that they wanted a copy of the invoice from Tennessee RV here in Knoxville, TN mailed to them. They will not accept fax. Odd don't you think? I don't know exactly what they did to the control box. One tech said that two of the six dip switches were not "programed" properly. I can only assume that the code was incorrect. Even at that, if the keypad doesn't communicate with the control box, the thing still doesn't work. Ours is working now and much better than the original.

Sorry I couldn't help you any more than that JerryKelly.
