After 6.5 weeks of sitting, we're on the move again. We stopped to do a little shopping and when we got back to the coach the keypad was buzzing and not responding. Luckily we had a key. We learned to carry a key after getting locked out of the coach in May. The keypad, which was replaced in Jan at Tampa stopped working in May for abut an hour and we've had no problem since, until today. We're at a loss as to how to get it to stop buzzing short of removing the keypad once we get to our destination today. Joe pulled the door lock fuse, but the buzzing didn't stop. Is there a fuse inside the keypad? Also as far as I know, water hasn't entered the keypad. The coach is still under warranty so we know we'll get it replaced again, but for now we would like the buzzing to stop. Any suggestions?

Is there a keypad manufacturer with a better design. We don't want to have to replace the keypad twice a year.

Thanks,

Sue

Well, it fixed itself. Sort of.

Since I couldn't figure out which fuse to pull to cut off the power to the keypad, I decided to remove it so I could just disconnect it totally. I removed the screws holding the keypad/grab base on, and as I was pulling the cable out to get to the connector, the buzzing stopped. I disconnected the keypad, reconnected it, and it's working fine now.

There's some discoloration on one side of the connector, but I don't see any other signs of overheating or anything like that. Very strange.

I'll talk to Newmar about it tomorrow, and might have them replace it (again) when we're at a service center, but I'm not going to worry to much about it for now.
