As mentioned in another post, DH and I are on the verge of ordering a King-Aire for full-timing. We're waiting on Newmar engineering to see if a 52" TV is possible. We have no kids or grandkids and are both gamers so we each need a desk area for our 24" iMacs, instead of extra sitting/sleeping areas. Most of our specials involve the redesigning of the living area to provide more storage for kitchen items and entertainment electronics.

Our specials for a 2008 King-Aire 4562 include:
1. Radius-Corner Air Adjustable RV King Mattress with dual controls
2. Add AC outlet between bed and closet, if not already one in this location.
3. Substitute straight-front sofa for L-Sofa on curb side. Provide two ottomans or footrests
in matching leather.
4. Add low-clearance ceiling fan in bedroom
5. Double rods in bedroom closet - 40% full height (right side), 60% double rod (left side)
6. 8 AGM house batteries
7. All Electric Operation with Maytag Refrigerator and 4 Extra Batteries. Retain LP cooktop and LP tank, include hookup for LP grill on curb side. Please confirm these are AGM batteries (all around)
8. Remove street side couch, dinette table, end tables, and chairs. Replace with custom
double desk unit and entertainment center, which will include a 52" HDTV on a lift.
9. Relocate all home theatre electronics (HD Receiver, HD switcher, etc) to new entertainment
center (street side). Pre-wire for Motosat Sat Dish (4 coax, control cable) to this location. Electronics can be in either side of unit.
10.Modify standard storage/entertainment unit (opposite refrigerator) for storage only (no
TV this location). Base unit to include two standard drawers at top and two pull out
drawers behind double cabinet doors at bottom. Top of base unit same material as
kitchen counter. Hutch unit above base unit with side wire rack system pull out storage
and front cabinet with double doors. 18" spacing between top unit and counter top. Two
duplex outlets for coffee maker and small appliances.

All electric but keep the LP gas/stove? May I ask why? That LP tank for just the stove takes up a huge chunk of space which you'd get by deleting. But, since I boondock I HAD to keep the LP refer and stove. No way you can boondock an all electric for days on end w/o running the genset a lot.

Add 1 inch electrical conduit between all the key component areas and into the basement from upstairs main locations and if you think you'll add solar add it in the roof to key component areas. In fact, skip the Motosat prewire and add conduit, that's what I did and if things change w/Motosat you can easily change it too. You'll be changing stuff and conduit makes it a snap! For about $50/run Newmar will put in conduit.

All electric = 8 house batteries by default. AGM house yes. You probably can't get/or want AGM for starting - typically not enough amps.

Can you post a pic of that custom ODS furniture, it sounds spectacular! PS: I'd conduit the living daylights out of this spectacular piece of furniture, spec that Newmar wire everything in it through conduit so you can alter later.

Relocate kitchen AC outlets to the wall? When located under the cabinets it is a bear to plug things in.

I'd make some noise about getting VORAD. Along with CD, the SmartCruise part of VORAD is uber-nifty.

Look aver all your lights and consider which additional ones you'd like to have HI/LO dimmable. This is a real cheapo and frankly, you might want more dimmable than Newmar provides. Maybe even add, if not there already, Halogen donwlights over sinks and the like that are dimmable too?

Maybe this is just me, but that dang radius corner, 4inches narrower than a std. King bed is a pain to get sheets to fit well. Expanded queens (from Select Comfort) are tight but seem to fit best as std king hangs off the sides. Several folks have yanked that mattress and slipped in a full king. Maybe spec this and Newmar can wiggle the furniture a tad to make it a better fit. The std Newmar mattress is 72x80 (with radius corners that make things worse), a std king is 76x80 and a cal king is 72x84 and exp (olympic) queen is 66x80. Pick your poison. Select Comfort can make any size mattress you can dream of.

I hate cooking on an electric cooktop.

Hmm. Good point. I'll have to think about that.

Jeff mentioned 120v outlets on kitchen wall.

I did that and it was a good idea.

I also added about 12 120v outlets everywhere I could think I might want one.

Same for my DW. Probably always have a gas stove.

While we do need some outlets for the entertainment unit and desk units, with an iMac there's a lot fewer wires to deal with.

We'll post pictures after we get the RV. Newmar engineering is working on our 'vision'.

Someone at Select Comfort who also has a RV suggested we do as she did, since she told us Select Comfort does not make a mattress that's 72X80. Perhaps she was wrong. Anyway, in her RV she has a California King and removed the foam piece at the top of the mattress. I agree about finding sheets that will fit well and will probably use elastic with clips underneath to hold the sheets in place.

I beg to differ. Maybe it is a Camping World Exclusive and Select Comfort can not sell it separately, but here's the Select Comfort RV 72x80 edition available at Camping World . While I like the idea of a CalKing and pull the top foam, why improvise when you can have the real (although off standard size) deal. Sure wish they would make a 12v compressor...

Let me clarify.

Select Comfort has several models, from 3000 to 9000 and the SC RV bed is model 4000. They told DH they do not make their higher end models in 72x80.

But if you knew me you'd know I'd rather cook and clean up than take the time to put on my face to go out to eat.
Plus, we like to cook. Just made Lasagna. Just a few other dishes we like to make are Jambalaya, Swiss Steak, Meatloaf Burgers, and Italian Meat Sauce. Of course by looking at us you can tell we like to eat too.

Here is the manufacturer for Monaco "King Size" beds http://www.Comfortaire.com They make an RV sized king at 72 x 80. When we replaced the sorry mattress that came with our 2005 DSDP this one filled the bill for us. It fits on the platform provided by Newmar, comes with two controls (wired vs wireless). Comfortaire is the company from whom the founders of Select Comfort came. Select Comfort spends tons of $$ on advertising and you pay for it with their product. (We tried their extended queen first.) The Comfortaire is just as good and costs almost 1/2 the price of a Select Comfort. Of course if you are buying a King-Aire, price won't be a problem to you, I assume. ;&gt Anyway, we love our Comfortaire, and the King sheets are too large, but we just tuck them under, no problem.

I too would love to see photos of your new coach!
