Kitchen Slide will not retract on 2007 DSDP
Planned to leave for Florida this a.m. but could not get the kitchen slide to retract (this is a new to us coach). Spent the day working on it and plan to head to the dealer tomorrow unless someone can suggest something I have not tried. I get noise from the motor but no motion when I try to extend and absolutely nothing when I try to retract. I have swaped actuation switches and this made no change. When I actuate extend I have current to the motor but no motion only noise. When I actuate retract I have no current to the motor. I used a lot of muscle and was able to manually retract so I am ok to head for the dealer. The dinette slide has voice accompaniment so I was not sure I could swap controllers and since it will no longer extend I think I either have a motor problem or have caused one. Any thoughts?

Man it sounds like you had a tough day. I'm impressed that you were able to "muscle" the slide in. It sounds like your motor was working if it was getting current to the motor and making noise, Since you changed the switch it sounds like you ruled out a switch problem, about the only thing it could be is the controller, hopefully that's all it is. If this happens again you might want to use a jumper wire from a battery to the motor, if the motor is getting current in one direction one thing the controller does is "reverse" the flow of current so using a jumper should make the motor work, just be careful with the wire until you determine which way the current needs to flow to bring the slide in.

I am by no means an expert when it comes to slides, mainly because I've not had any trouble with mine. (Touch wood) if I were to hazard a guess, I'd say it's a controller problem. At least you have it back in and can travel.
Please let us know what the dealer finds for future reference.
Good Luck,,

I recently went through some similar issues after having some floor work done and replacing slide parts. The slide controller has a current limit pot that might be something to look at.
Attached are 2 files that might help you trouble shoot your issues.

Try this!
While all slide problems are not the same, you may try giving the slide lock a couple of "love" taps with a rubber mallet, see if that helps. I have had this problem several times on some of my slides in my Essex and it worked every time.
Hope this works for you too! Post your cure, if you will!
Have a safe trip!

Thanks for the replies
Thanks for the responses. They all got me thinking about the problem. I am guessing that I have a bad controller (that accounts for no current to the motor on retract) and stripped gears in the motor (that accounts for motor noise but no motion on extend). I will post the final outcome based on my dealer visit tomorrow.

Welcome to the forum Restless 1.
Here is a Brochure and Owners Guide for you.
Here is the slide spec for your year coach with kitchen slide info at the end of it.
Slide is chain driven when motor turns shaft. Could have a broken torque bushing.
If you could find the slide control pull plugs and reset back on board may have some dirt or slit corrosion on contact pins and could use some contact spray cleaner to clean also.
Below in my signature are links to many more for your Newmar.

Fixed the problem
When I could not get into a dealer on a timely basis I went ahead and ordered the parts that I thought I needed -- new controller and motor. Finished installing them this afternoon and the slide is operational. Thanks to those that offered suggestions.
