Drop the motor and push steps in and out by hand, should move free.

Glad to have you here in the forum with us.

I had a similar problem couple of years ago. It was low voltage. Try starting the genny and see if it makes a difference. Are your batteries in good shape?

Happy Trails!!!

Try this:

If the step moves freely, unplug the module from the motor assembly at the two pin connector. Connect 12VDC from the battery to the yellow wire going to the motor and ground the red wire. The gear should rotate in the deployment direction until it goes over center and comes to rest against the stop.
If the gear and motor assembly will not function normally. Faulty gear and motor assembly. Replace the gear and motor assembly.

If the gear and motor assembly function normally then module assembly is not functioning normally. Faulty module assembly. Replace the module assembly.

Lubrication, Lubrication, Lubrication.
99% of step problems are because of lack of lubrication. Get a can of the Best Spray Lube on the market, crawl under and spray Every Joint with copious amounts of lubrication about twice per year and your steps will work just fine.

These motors are motors from certain makes of autos, I can't remember which, but there are threads on here that will tell you. Do a search. Get one from auto parts store. Much cheaper.
