We're looking for anyone else that might own a Newmar Kountry Star 3916 model. It's a unique floorplan with a round dining room table, recliner chair and long side windows in the dining area. I love it and understand it's no longer available. Anyone else got one ? What color ?

Hi SherynWard,
I do not have the model mentioned in your OP. I do have an 05 Kountry Star 3910. The coach has served me well. 80K miles on the odometer and we spend 5 1/2 months straight in the coach every year and then a week a month for the rest of the year.

Why did Newmar discontinue the Kountry Star?

Wish I new the answer to that question also?
Since I have owned Newmars since 98, two KS one MA.
They have been gas coach's but the models we had were tops for style, function and dependability.
You can see my interior of coach in some of the Mods I did in Quick Tips.
Some of the floor plans would carry over year to year because of there popularity.
They have brought them back in the 5th wheel line but people have said they are not the same.
If people feel that way for 5th's may never see them come back in gas lineup.
If we had some Newmar dealer close to us, have lost most up here in northeast, I could compare to my coach and see what the difference might be.
My 03 KS with bath & 1/2 has been the best we have had and I have compared to their newer models BS,CS and fine them lacking for which I have been criticized but thats just my opinion.

Hi USMCRET,
Kountry Star was discontinued due to "Brand Creep". The last few years (about 05-07) found the KS very close to the Dutch Star interior. The Ventana brand came along, positioned to be the entry level diesel. The DS was selling very well. This left no room for the KS. Newmar is a small company. From a cost view they can support just so many Brands.

As 007 mentioned, Brand names come and go. Newmar Brands are no exception. Newmar executives have committed that all future Brands will end with Star or Aire.

Yep, GaryKD gave the same answer that we received from the factory. The options on the Kountry Star made it nearly identical to the Dutch Star only slightly cheaper. They determined that the Dutch Star had more name recognition, so they dumped the Kountry Star in favor of the Dutch Star.

WE have friends in a local rv club who have a 07, 3916 cranberry in color. They are very happy with it. We have been in it many times, it is a nice floor plan.

My husband and I are interested in locating anyone that has the same coach as we have. We have a Kountry Star 3916. Ours is a cranberry '07 but that doesn't matter. When we travel he looks to see if he can see another one like ours. To date, we've seen only 3. We were just curious how many there are. Are your friends going to the rally in Gillette Wyoming next summer? Where do they live ? If they are interested in corresponding, our email is: SherynWard@gmail.com Thanks....Denny & Sheryn Ward

We ran into the "brand creep" when we ordered our 2002 DSDP. I wanted the hydro hot system in it, Newmar refused for just that reason. They told us to get it we would have to go to a MADP. There was just too much on the MADP that we didn't want so we stayed with the DSDP and forgot about the hydro hot. As it is we put over $35,000 in extra work and options on our rig.

I'll stick with my gas KS why they had to discontinue it in the gas line up is beyond me.
The KSDP I can see their reasoning but why push out the gas KS.
The gas lineup now cannot get me interested if I were to get a new coach and DP's are beyond my means.

We have 2008 KS3916 Cranberry color. We love the floorplan. We have compliments all the time on the layout and the view we have from the inside out.

The only issue we have had is a bottom out at bridge transistions. Bilstein has stepped up to help resolve the issue. I am on my second set of shocks that Bilstein changed the valving. I think my problem is resolved. I have a very good ride. I beleive that they will be coming out with a new shock in the future.

As for the Kountry Star name, I think that we will see the name come back in the future.

Georgia, We had the same problem as you described with our coach bottoming out at bridge transitions. My husband contacted the Bilstein shock factory and described the problem to them. They worked with us to solve our problem with the correct shocks and we no longer bottom out. What area do you live in and what locations do you travel to ? Are you planning on attending the Newmar Rally in Gillette WY next summer?
