We are considering trading up to a new 2008 Kountry Star. Do any owners have any advice or recommendations regarding the pros and cons of this particular coach?

Where did this coach fall into Newmar's lineup, since it appears they don't build it anymore. Did the Dutch Star replace it?

Thanks.

In 2008 the Kountry Star Diesel Pusher (KSDP) was under the DSDP.

The current Dutch Star had changes made to lower the price and it can be considered the KSDP replacement.

The Dutch Aire is the Dutch Star replacement.

The KSDP is an excellent coach and if it suits your needs, then it would be a good choice.

We purchased our 2008 KSDP in December of 2008 and have had nothing significantly wrong with it. Had a few problems consistent with a "new" coach (oil leak, ignition key problem, etc.) and have not had it in the shop at all this year. We traded up from a gasser Itasca and cannot say enough regarding the quality and construction of KSDP. Very reliable. It is amazing how many trips that we have made and did not have a "to do" list to correct things. Nothing has broken which leaves time for all of the fun modifications. Comfort drive was available on the unit but not sure it was on all units. That is something to read about since it impoves the driveability significantly IMHO. Additionally, there were some 2008 units that had the left over 2007 Cummins engines that were not yet converted for emission controls. There was not only a difference in price (new 2008 engines were much more expensive) but I believe the older engine may have provided better fuel mileage. The issue related to USLD diesel fuel is no longer relavent since it appears nearly all stations now carry that fuel. We have the Cummins 400 ISL which does a fine job of pulling our Colorado pick up truck...can't really tell it's back there.

We love the KSDP.

took delivery of our 2008 Kountry Star in Feb 2009.
other than some "lot rot" issues (it sat new on the lot for 16 months) like leaky seals, our warranty list has not been that bad.
highly recommend the Comfort Drive.
go for it !!!

Ooops! We actually purchased ours in December of 2007 rather than 2008. Had it for two seasons. It was built in November 2007 so didn't have the "lot rot" issues.
