I am going to trade in my 2003 Workhorse Mountain Aire. I have been extremely happy with it, my first Newmar. After looking around I found I can get a new Kountry Star DP with solid wood cabinets loaded for $27 more. The ride and drive difference between the two coaches is unbelievable. I had a HR Imperial in 94 and this new Spartan Chassis with Newmar is so much better! My question, I will use it 3 months per year - hopefully, should I look at Dutch Star. I really don't want to spend more than I have to and can't see $40K difference in them. Both are on Spartan Chassis wil ISL and side radiator. Any comments would be appreciated.

My same answer on other post applies to this one the Spartan is the only DP chassis Newmar uses an its a good one. I'am partial to the KS because of price and most of the same options as DP'S lower costs for gas and with the newer 25,500 WH coming out in 06 I would stay with gas.
The ride on DP would only sway me if I could aford one. But its fun anyhow looking at all the options out there ,so have fun and good luck in your desision. "007"

I perfer the look of the KSDP over the new design of the DSDP, however that's just me. One of the differences I believe is the KSDP is on a Mountain Master Spartan chassis while the DSDP is on a MM-GT Spartan chassis. You can check out the difference on the Spartanmotors.com website. It wouldn't hurt to look at one.

That's a tough one. They're both great coaches. You get IFS on the DSDP with the 400 ISL engine, a 150 gallon fuel tank, and a few more standard features than the KSDP. You get a solid axle on the KSDP with a 350 ISL engine and a 100 gallon fuel tank. The difference in styling is there and whether or not you can justify the extra cost of the DSDP depends upon how much you value the extra features. You won't go wrong with either one.

Thanks for the input from everyone. The KSDP is now on a Spartan MM, 350 Cummins with ISL as well. The difference is at least 37K. I like the Dutch Star, but I believe I will go with the KSDP based on your comments. If I were full timing I probably would feel differently.

Since you get the MM Chassis and a 350 ISL I think you are making a great choice to save the $$. I towed a Crew Cab DSL 4x4 5,900lbs behind a 350 and it was no sweat. At 122 degrees in Havasu I had to down shift to 4th at the very top of the hill and the temp came right down and I never stopped.
To Cruzer: Great pic of your Allegro! I worked with Bob Tiffin last year at Barret Jackson Auction. Thats whole lot of coach for the money.
