Hi Mtnaire,
I have the in motion KVH L-3 on my coach. The only time I've had difficulty with it is when the power source was low. I know you said there is enough power. However, double check the source power. Mine is sensitive to voltage below 12.2 VDC. Then my unit has the same symptoms as your unit. I replaced my coach batteries and everything returned to normal. Other than that, the unit has been flawless since installed in 2005.

Mtnaire, was the humidity high, lots of dew? My done dish made those kind of sound when conservation on the dome has caused signal degradation.

I had the L3 in my last coach and like already said, it was very sensitive to low voltage, that actually is not that low. I finally installed a power converter so it would get steady uniform power. It was a power supply 120 ac to 12 volt dc. It was about $30 at Radio Shack. Running on 120 AC was no issue as I required 120 power anyway to run the receiver.

I have a L3 as well. Hook up the RS-232 cable to your laptop and it will tell you what is wrong maybe. My servo gets stuck sometimes after a travel day so I bang the ceiling from underneath and it starts turning. Also make sure receiver is on and providing power to LNB.

Not sure of the model, but think it is supposed to have a power converter that plugs into 110V with an output of a little more than 12VDC. An converter supposedly was supplied with every antenna, but sometimes Newmar did not install them when they should have. Have a friend that had the problem for four years until an antenna company tech told him what was wrong. Got their converter installed and problem gone.

Thanks to everyone
If I use an RS-232 cable to my laptop what program do I use to test it
my house batteries are all new so that is not the problem.

Have you tried doing a reset on the receiver?
